Hello.
I've been studying ASL for quite a few years.
I fell in love with ASL. Its very beautiful language.
But, I have this urge, where I want to be deaf. I desire it more than anything. I'm very big into music. But, I have a deaf friend who relates to music the same as me with everything as he can "feel" it.
I even thought of a cochlear implant. Where it would make me deaf.

I went deaf last year when my dad died and lost my balance with labyrthitis and have really loud tinnitus. At least you can practice being deaf by putting cotton wool in your ears or ear plugs but it is very difficult to live with, when you can't hear cars or you ignore people by mistake. I constantly have to ask people to repeat themselves and they eventually ask, "Are you deaf?" Unfortunately, there is no way of letting people know you are deaf when you are in a queue or being talked to by a cashier.
Enjoy ASL for what it is - but trust me, you don't really want to be deaf :o(
"play" deaf all you want with professional earplugs and stuff. i'd imagine good sleeping plugs and studio-quality headphones should combine to basically shut out all but the most loud noises.
but don't go there for real unless destiny forces it upon you.
he can feel music? you understand that what your hearing is actually what your eardrum is feeling?
your weird bro.
I agree with Joybird. Be careful what you wish for. Being deaf can be dangerous!
But i know what you mean , sometimes i wonder what it would be like to be blind or deaf. I wish that i could experience it for like a day , then go back to normal.
