Is it normal to want to own a business just to have a humorous name?

I have no interest in actually running the business, but I'd like to have a few businesses just to have humorous names.

Like Bunghole Liquors or Amy's Winehouse. Or a late-night taxi service called Drunk Drivers.

I hate people who open up shop and call it something dumb like AJ's Plumbing, or Peter and Sons Excavating, or some other thoughtless crap. What a waste!!

I support this idea. I want a coffee house that sells baked good to be called 'welcome to my dough-joe'

This is the worst reason I've ever heard to start a business, since you'd get used to the name after a little while anyway, and then you'd be stuck running a business you don't want to run.

People give their businesses boring names because humorous names don't really give a good impression. If people don't like the joke, they won't want to patronise your business. If people DO like the joke, you can still come off as unprofessional. Very few people will hire you based on a funny name, but a lot of people will be much less likely to hire you because of it.

I saw a crew fixing some of the state's half assed road construction. The company was called Crackhead Construction. They did beautiful work, but it threw me off when I saw the work they had done. It was weird. Definitley not a professional name though.

There's a power company here called Powergen and when they opened an Italian arm, they called it Powergenitalia.

Hahaha. I've definitely thought about it. Yeah, it's a bad reason to start a business, but if you ever do, at least you'll know how to be creative with it. You can always tone it down to a subtle play on words. Have you seen the photo going around of a lawn service called Lawn Order? Those people must be so proud.

Well, if you want your business to be taken seriously you're going to have to give it a professional name. But ehh.

I heard of a builder's firm called Bodgit and Leggit and surprisingly they did very well because people liked the idea of having their van outside their house. Also, most builders are disreputable so they'd either be as bad as the others or be the opposite and do a good job.
