They will if millions of people cancel their subscriptions, boycott them and their advertisers, state that they will not vote for them or even threaten a lawsuit.
I respectfully disagree. By starting a petiton, it would not waste any more of your time and money than the time and money you have wasted on Is It Normal. The benefit to yourself and others would be raising public awareness on this issue, and ultimately increasing your net worth and quality of life.
I'm not saying the petition is wasting my time, I actually agree with your point but I stated it in a confusing manner. I think the networks and subscriptions are a waste of my time so I don't get any of those.
