Is J-Rock Normal?

Is it normal for Americans or African Americans to like J-Rock/J-pop (Japanese music). I listen to JRock and mostly V-kei. Bands like Versailles, Dir En Grey, L'Arc~En~Ciel, AnCafe, etc.

A lot of people assume that if i like JRock that i must be a fan of Anime, which is not true. I don't dislike it or anything, im just not a fan. Is that normal?

I actually like Malice Mizer, Dir En Grey, Psycho Le Cemu and others. I am African American that happens to be American. Hmmm...music isn't race specific. I know white people that listen to hip hop. I know asians that listen to country. I know black people that listen to death metal. This blackie included.

Why would it not be normal? We don't consider speaking other languages weird, so why do the same with music?
I love J-Rock, Asaki, Maximum the Hormone, Nightmare, they kick butt.
And you know what? I'm Irish, and I don't have a clue what they're saying, but I don't care.

It does not matter if your listening to music you do not understand as long as it sounds cool its all good. I like j-pop and Manga I'm black and people assume i wish i was Japanese or that I'm "not black" or that i like everything Japanese. the simple fact is people love to stereotype and just because you like one thing doesn't mean you like another, you're normal!

My brother, who is half black, LOVES Japanese music, but doesn't like anime, so yeah I think it's pretty normal.

Of course, a variety of people love varieties of music. Just because you are African American does not mean that you can't love a certain type of music without adoring anime also.

yea its normal =/ i mean i'm a guy from belgium where no1 that i know ever heard of the word J-rock or J-Pop but yes i like it lol, u should listen to UVERworld...they are just epic ^^
