Is sniffing each others bums how dogs say hello?

I have a question about dogs. Why when they meet a dog why do they sniff each others bums. I'm not sure but i think it may be because how they say hello. Well i would like to know what everyone else thinks ;) thanks.

they sniff eachothers bums as a ploy...it makes humans think they are engaging in doggy meeting but in reality they are planning to take over the world..be very careful ...when good sniffy dogs go bad.

Mainly because the dog's sense of smell is it's strongest sense, and sniffing the other dog's rear end can tell many things about the other dog, like what that dog ate, it's general health, whether it's ready to breed or pregnant, etc.

it's true.. when they lick their own balls thats just another ploy, they're actually using miniscule radios to contact their superiors with information on human activity..One day it will happen and you will rember what i told you and you will say...wow, that spamjavelin really knows his sh1t.

One day a long time ago all the dogs had a meeting. They had to leave their arses outside on a hook while they attended this meeting. The fire alarm went off and they just had to grab the first arse they came too. So from that day on they all sniff each others arses trying to find their own

When they sniff each other's butts that is how they know each other and how they like..umm..well lits say when y ou are a person you can look at the person and see his defferances from another person..well that is the same with dogs but they sniff their buts and do it like that..it is a way of knowing who the other dog is..atleast that is what I've heard..i dont know about other people!
