Alright, when I go to the grocery/department store I usually use one of the little electric carts they have. It is near impossible shopping and using my chair at the same time, and though I can stand with my leg/back braces, walking presents problems.
And being pregnant now doesn't help matters...
So anyway, I am in my favorite store yesterday and all the carts are gone. Hey, no problem - first come first served, right?
Wrong.
Above the entrance, in huge letters, was a sign: Store Assistance Carts Reserved For Our Customers Whose Lifestyle Choices Require Them
ExCUSE me?
Looking around at the "people" who are using the cart... Since when did allowing oneself to become grossly, disgustingly fat become a "Lifestyle Choice"??? I understand old people need these carts - and because I am young and so achingly beautiful I already get dirty looks from the fossils as I take one - but these hideous heifer type people should have to walk (do them some good) and leave the carts to those of us who have a real NEED!
I have been moody and surely since seeing that (and not being able to get the things I needed at the store) and my boyfriend tells me I am over reacting.
Is my anger/resentment normal?
"Above the entrance, in huge letters, was a sign: Store Assistance Carts Reserved For Our Customers Whose Lifestyle Choices Require Them"
This statement you say is posted at the entrance to the door really angers me and I think this particular store is heading for a lawsuit!
You are moody kinda on edge has your boyfriend not been taking care of his manly duties lately?
I just don't call their condition a "Lifestyle Choice" (Politically correctness gone mad) and I don't think they should have access to stuff that others NEED simply because they cannot stop shoving food into their pie holes.
As far as "Talking to management" I did, as a matter o' fact. The manager was about my age and, after hearing my complaint, looking moi up and down Twice - he suggested that I was maybe not "as needy as others".
I was mad enough to shit kittens by this point. My condition is not visible. People look at my chair (Actually, I was wearing my braces at the time, but didn't feel like "dropping trou" to show this walnut he didn't know what he was talking about) and because I am lovely without a mark on me - decide I am either faking, playing it up or lazy.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
You are in a store, something happens, and you fall to your knees, you can pick yourself up and complain. Same thing happens to Moi, and I will likely have broken knees at the least. This is not taking into consideration my baby.
Even if nothing unexpected happens, You try doing basic shopping in a wheelchair and/or pushing a cart.
NOT easy.
So I left, but now, a day or so later, I am Still upset.
Maybe I am over reacting, but I doubt it.

A) You really are just that stuck up and narcissistic.
B) You're some random dude trying to provide sufficient imagery to build story detail. It comes across as cheesy and fake unless A is true.
To top it off, the topic is the same as one of the most-epic "best of" stories.

Potential shenanigans aside, you certainly didn't handle yourself well. If you walk up to the manager bitching about the carts and don't provide any reason as to why you actually need one and then get all pissed when he visually scans you to try and figure out why some crazy bitch is in his face being an asshole about f'king electric carts in the first place, don't be surprised if he thinks you don't need one as bad as the 750 pound boulders currently occupying the carts.
That is not sarcasm, I mean it.
I admit, I AM a bitch sometimes, and when I posted this I was in full bitch mode. That said, so many people see the chair and are suddenly self concious when it comes to pointing out my lousy (at times) attitude.
I find it refreshing actually, to have it a non issue.
Which doesn't mean I Agree with you, lol.
I admit I can be full of myself, no point in denying it. But the cart thing... You try pushing a regualr cart and controling a chair And trying to get to things on high shelves. I can stand, with braces, but shopping is so much easier with a motorcart and my claw clamp.
As for the rest, if I am overly full of myself, well it is a portion of my personality. I work on it, I do try. I have my faults too, not many, but they are there.
Tobra - Feeling good about the previous ass chewing, actually. :)
But the Policy of the STORE to call it a "lifestyle" choice...
It to love food and have struggled with weight issues once or twice. Doubly dangerous with me as my bones will spliter if I pack on to many pounds. 90% of the time though it is a matter of eating so much though.

But seriouly Fat fucks that use carts piss me the fuck off too. You'd think if you were fat you'd fucking WALK around the stores?? Exercise at the VERY least... and then they wanna complain about being lardasses.

When I went to Winco (A great grocery store the size of a Walmart but with nothing but food, greatly owned and well respected store in my community.) I was forced by my grandparents to take one of those carts. I felt bad as I could hobble along with a great deal of effort to TRY to walk and they said it hurt them inside to see me struggle.
Well, it was the first and last time of using one of those carts and I truly liked the convience of using one when I needed to. As far as the overweight people thing. My girlfriend (Beating a dead horse, I know and I am tired of stating it) is overweight and she still walks. SHE, being morbidly obese HERSELF is ashamed of those fatasses who refuse to walk. She has even begged me to never let her use one of those carts.
I understand why the store has them, it is for those who need them. But for those fatasses who refuse to walk because they may burn an extra ten calories should really be ashamed.
My last comment is the handicap space. Yes, my MS has granted me a Wheelchair/handicap flag to post in my car window so I can park up front. I do not use it unless I have to and I try my ass off to walk if I can first.
However, one time I could barely move my legs and was struggling and I noticed some punk kid took the last handicap spot without a need for it so I couldn't use it. It was clearly his dads car and he was RUNNING, not struggling to get into the store. That really pissed me off.
-------------------
I see I am rambling because I am tired, but these conviences are very nice for those who need them and not for those who can get by without them. For assholes like them to take from a cripple just seems wrong. I didn't ask for this nor did Ms October ask for her bone condition (If I read it right), I am not asking for a handout although many people who can get by without one get them for some odd reason. However, don't take away from me if I am struggling. I feel this way for all people out there. If I can barely walk if another attack happens, I still would GLADLY give up that scooter or handicap spot for someone who needs it more.
I also agree with what you said about heavy people. Although I have in my past posted some mean comments toward my fiance. I still picked her and her weight really doesn't bother me as much anymore. Plus, she is struggling to lose weight to make HERSELF feel happier with herself and I am happy to help her.
----------
Won't stop me from bitching about it here as she refuses to join this site after I showed her it and it helps me lose my frustration that I have with all this studying.
Well, if they have a heart anyways. I often wonder if people besides my fiance and myself care for others anymore.
I have MS, is this a Lifestyle Choice as I didn't pick this nor would I want it?
Ms October is currently handicap, is that a Lifestyle Choice?
Plus, when is it okay to ever have a handicap perk for those who DESIRE to be that way or at least make very little effort to fix their lives. I know that they chose to be fat and meth addicts chose to be that far more than I choose to not be able to walk when I am having an attack.

Food for though, is it because fat people buy more food? So are they there so the fat people could buy more and become fatter? If thats true, how the hell is that a positive business decision?
