The other night I was at the cinema when this guy's phone rang in the middle of the film, he answered it, and chatted for about a minute.
Afterwards I asked him "What the hell are you doing talking on your phone in the middle of the film?".
His answer: "It rang - what was I supposed to do?"

Is it normal for young people today to be so fucking stupid and inconsiderate?

Most movie theaters now list "remember to turn off cell phones and beepers" before the movie, along with "no talking" and "no smoking." When this kid said "what was I supposed to do?" the answer should have been not to have it on in the first place.

Some theatres throw people out of the movie for things like that. When I went to see Star Wars Episode III, they made a big point about how if they saw a cell phone (not heard, saw), the person holding it would get thrown out. The previews normally ask people to turn off cell phones, too. When he gave his response, you should have told him that he should have turned it off to begin with, or turned it to silent and not answered. If it totally ruined the movie, talk to the manager. They might agree to give you a partial refund, and they will almost definitely crack down on cell phone usage.

Yes, cell phones are a constant nuisance. You shouldn't have had to police the guy whose phone rang, the establishment should have done it since you paid the fee. And, it's not only young people, adults are worse IMO with inconsiderate cell phone use. They drive while chatting knowing it is illegal, and slow to a crawl disregarding the traffic around them. I hate cell phones, got rid of mine a year ago and am happier for it.

yes sadly these days it is normal for young people to act like morons.everyone has a cell phone in their ear----i suppose they think it makes them look cool.anyway complain to the manager that you will take your business elsewhere if he doesnt enforce the no cell phone rule.people listen to money if nothing else.
