Every time I turn off all the lights in my basement I run like hell up the stairs. I think the guy from The Shining will come out of my boiler room screaming and swinging an axe at me. WTF is wrong with me????

Don't look at the dark corner.
hahah! mine situation same as u, run fast as possible..
i always imagine(or thought)there were "something" are chase me or watching me...
Or that's what my brain thinks. I think it's an instinctual thing.
And my room is in the basement ):
You should see me when I make my way to the bathroom at night. :P
She's a big fucking dog ffs.
Awwh : )
Nawwh don't worry cause it's totally normal!
I've had many incidents like that since I was small ... it's pretty funny though :P
it usually happens to me with the hall of my house, so fucking scary.
If I'm in there, as soon as I turn the light off I run like hell and close the door behind me, I don't know why though
My bedroom was in the basement for 13 years. Every time that I would leave my room I would book it to the stairs envisioning a hand with a very stretchy arm reaching around corners to come after me and pull me into the depths of oblivion.
Then it was a mistake to watch the original Amytiville Horror. Whatever you do, don't watch that movie.
Me? I like the quiet solitude down in my basement now even more so when it's dark.
im the same way..
a basement is just a structure;your fear is of mans cruel nature.
But it is totally normal, maybe you have something paranormal activity going on but please don't do what the retards did in the movie HAHA
But whenever you go down there take a friend or girlfriend or something
I have to have my botfriend always with me xD hahahaha
Actually, I think you're just scared of what can't be seen in the dark, just like pretty much every other human. Yippee!
I went to the basement one time and turned off all the lights and instead of running I sat down on the floor and said to myself "What the hell, whatever is here I'm greater that it" I sat there for 20 mins and nothing happened !!
i do the same thing all the time XD
totally normal
i get scared easily since i'm young.
i couldn't even go to our bathroom alone! someone has to go with me and wait by the door. i know....it sux. it just feels like someone is always going to get me or something..just thinking about it makes me shiver since i'm alone right now, parents at work.
*flushes toilet* *RUNS FOR DEAR LIFE*
Go on ebay and buy a used Ouija board (they work better than new ones for obvious reasons) and channel the evil spirits and tell them to fuck off.
Look around and it will help.
I always take a second look when I go into and leave the basement.
If it wasnt for that damn washer and dryer I would never go down there unless I was having sex with a hooker and my friends were upstairs passed out after a night of getting lit at the strip clubs haha.
Then turn the TV off and to to sleep there.
It will help you.
I know I'm not helping, but if your going to be frightened of a horror film figure, at least have it be the right one.

My shower room is downstairs and our basement has some small windows, real small, that let the moonlight in and make it even scarier... Yeah, it's normal. After I come out of the shower I run like crazy after turning off the light... And yes, there's only one dim light that is fucked up most of the times and blinks... So it's a lot like a Silent Hill location...
I DONT LIKE THAT GIRL GHOST!
Once I turn off every light in my room and it's at night, I run down the stairs. I don't imagine anything from movies and stuff but it's just creepy.
I only dislike the spiders there. Most of the stuff are covered in spider webs. And believe me, those are hard to get rid of!
i think uv seen 2 many movies young one
...i know this post is a little old but i use to have the same problem when i was little, as soon as the light went off i'd run like hell too... its because it's dark and you can't see anything and the basement does feel "paranormal"... so you run...
very normal... you'll get over it trust me... if you haven't already
