My older boyfriend never pays, is it normal?

My Boyfriend and I have been together for about 2 years now. He is a bit older than me, I am 20 and he is 32. We are unusual compared to other couples who are dating with a significant age difference because he has just graduated from college and is still trying to establish himself while I am finishing up college. I love spending time with him but whenever we go out I am always the one to pay. It's even more frustrating because I don't work during the school year while he is working a steady job as a boxing and MMA instructer/trainer!! On top of all of that, he hasn't given me one single gift while I have given him birthday gifts, christmas gifts, and so on. I understand that money is tight but I am also not asking for anything overly expensive. Please tell me, is it normal that my 32 year old boyfriend of 2 years never pays for anything and never buys me gifts?

Sounds like a typical moocher to me, also I cant help but think that if he isn't spending any money on you, he might be spending it on someone else.

He doesn't get you anything for your birthday? That's gotta be aweekwaarrrdd. It's like.. happy birthday *Pat on the back*
I'd be like "Da fuck?"
For a 32 year old he doesn't sound very mature...
My suggestion!! If it's not worth breaking up with him over, don't get him a present or pay for anything ever again. Your animosity will just continue to grow if you keep getting him gifts/paying and get nothing in return. Keep your pimp hand stronnggg!!! SAY NO!

Daphuk?! Lame phukkin' cheapskate! Reject his ass, you deserve much much better, hun... A Boxing and MMA instructor/trainer, huh? Well, while working on his muscles he definitely forgot about the muscle called "heart"! L for Loser.

(BTW, I strongly believe that one of the 3 persons who voted YES is her BF!)

Sounds like you are dating a 32 year old douche.

You are a young girl finishing up college with a whole life in front of you, don't settle for guys that don't treat you like you deserve. :(

If you're dating him for money you have not done well at all have you.

You can't expect him to give you gifts just because you give him gifts, however you shouldnt have to pay for him when you go out. See if you can bring correct change and just pay for yourself. He'll get the message.

It sounds like kind of a loser. I have always been the one to go dutch, but every man that I have ever been with was always the type to pull out his wallet before I am able to reach for my card, even if the outing was my idea =/

I'd be wary of a guy like him. I took my husband out when we were dating and often paid when I took him out (old Southern courtesy, if you initiate the date, you pay the check), but he took me out and bought me gifts as well. Your situation sounds... odd.

I'm sorry that he is that way :(

The real question is why he's like that?
Doesn't he love you enough to spend money on you or is he just too darn cheap?
Either way I think you should talk to him about it and tell him that it bothers you.

Hope my advice was of any help
Good luck

Serious I get starting out but you guys should at least share the efforts and not have it all on one person

Totally agree!

He is simply a bludger and not buying you gifts is even worse. It suprises me that you even have to ask this question it should be obvious what he is

Funny how posts that criticise feminism are flamed heavily and they immediately jump at your throat but when it comes to who pays men are still expected to pay at least equal but NEVER less than females.

My partner's auntie is in the same boat, both work. She pays all the bills for the household, for the food and puts her daughter through school, brought the family car and even the house. She works 50 per work while the husband work 2 days at a supermarket and spends his money on shoes, not a dollar on the family

No. That loser is using you.
You could find someone better.

Gross! If you're going to date a man that much older than you, find one that will actually pay for you. Like common.. he was 30 when you were 18... either he's immature or just a creep. You deserve gifts and a free dinner every once in a while.
