I am often taunted because of my faith...

i think christianity and all mainstream religions are stupid......i've never had any sense of belonging in these faiths...none seem to intrest me.

Then one day my friend introduced me to pagan/wiccan ideas. I tried out some spells, and now i have based my beliefs on them!

The magic, for me, is my true faith. But people make fun of me for this...they say im stupid to believe in what is impossible. Now, when i meet a girl, im nervous to tell her my faith incase she leaves me because of it...is it normal to believe in somethingthat is not mainstream, but what some people would laugh at?

p.s: for any wiccans or neo-pagans reading this, my beliefs are like a fusion of pagan and wiccan.......im not mainstream, even in the obscure.
Do you think it's normal?

i hate these two comments.......

you completely turned a blind eye t what i said, christianity isn't the religion for me....i am against the way christianity is used as a principle of today's living.
I wont go to hell, cuz i dont believe it exists!

p.s: the magic symbol, the 5-pointed star in a circle, is only satanic if the top point is facing downwards...

Can't say this is normal since I've never met someone that beleives in that kind of stuff.

Your spells worked?? What were they?

First of all, I don't believe in Christianity either. And I don't think it is a religion that people should base their lives on. I'm hugely in the minority on that, but I have a strong enough understanding that I can hold my own in discussions about it.

When looking for love I look for like-minded people. Its hard, but on rare occasions possible to change someone's mind about religion.

Normal means something that is the case for a lot of people. It doesn't mean good, or right or true. And what you are, in terms of your religion is definately not normal. You are one of a very few people to be Wiccan/Pagan or whatever. And people of your religion will never be numerous enough to be a significant power in the world. Keeping that in mind you can either change your views on religion, keep them secret or look for someone who has similar beliefs, though there won't ever be very many.

(They are very sexy though.)
You seem a bit hypocritical, u sit and whine about ppl taunting you but then go and call christianity stupid?
I think you probably get what u deserve.

What you gonnie do? put a spell on me *urinating with sheer fear*
I'm not religious myself.

It seems to me like you're not very convicted in your beliefs. I also think you're a hypocrite for previously mentioned reasons.

"Mainstream"? Are you confusing MTV with organized religion? Do you wanna be underground cool?

People try out different ways of thinking in their lives just to see if they work for them, they sometimes pretend to believe them for a while. I think you are just trying out paganism, and I think that one day if you are really honest with yourself you will admit that you tried it out partly because you wanted to be a little different and to get some attention. Now you find that the attention you are getting is not exactly the kind you wanted. And it is hard for you to just quit being pagan, because if you admit that you were just trying it out and hoping to get attention a lot of people might look down on you.

Well, be for real. The sooner you drop paganism the sooner you will be able to live it down. And then you won't have the trouble of having to find a pagan girl.

wiccan here. sort of. i have a belief in nature, not an all-powerful and all-knowing creator. does that make me atheist? perhaps i am agnostic a bit? either way, wicca/paganism are the religions i have chosen to study and place trust in.

sweetie, it sounds very much to me like you're in love with mtv's image of wiccans. neither a pagan nor wiccan bases any belief on magick. yes, it is true, and it is there, but it is very much NOT what you ought to base your beliefs on. my suggestion to you is to study up on the background and history of the religion, rather than going out and buying cheesy spellbooks from barnes n noble.

And as to your even posting the comment-immature but understandable. when i first began to study into paganism, i too would flaunt it, just to spark an argument with some self-riteous and over-zealous christian/jew/muslim/whatever.

anywho, when you grow out of this rebellious stage you happen to be in, come back to talk about religion a little more open-mindedly and more informed.

its fine to worry bout what people think of ur religion...

i once got brave an told my gf what i believe (wiccan), and she actually began to see the religion as i did!

She had go-fearin parents, n 1 day i went into her house and met em, still wearin a pentagram pendant (5 pointed star in a circle)....

her parents asked me to remove it as it was a sign of the devil...

but i explained about the fact is only satanic if it's inverted, kinda like the cross.....now the parents have changed their veiws as well!

try to promote awareness of the religions true beliefs.....maybe join the WLPA (witches league for public awareness) at www.celticcrow.com

stay strong, blessed brother!
"Wicca" is less than half a century old. Your "magic" has yet to prove itself under any kind of laboratory conditions. You are lying to yourself FIERCELY. Just subscribing to a cosmological belief system because you want it to be true as opposed to having evidence it is, is completely risible. You -deserve- to be made fun of if you're that guillible.
It is completely normal to have non-mainstream views. However, don't become cocky and assume that your religious views are better than anyone else's. That's an aspect of mainstream religion that turns most people off in the first place. Religion is individual and beautiful. I'm a white Hindu, htis is uncommon and I'm amde fun of, but I truly believe it so I'm not affected. BUT I don't think that my views are "better" than the others, jsut different.
You mean you actually tried out "spells" and now you believe it MORE?

And good job making sure that everyone knows you're not a conformist. Nothing that millions of people feel the same way about could EVER be right.
Your "religion" is a joke. You are probably a highschool student who is interested in the occult (its common). Why do you believe in wicca and magic??? Ask yourself that question.
What are the rules of your faith???
At one point we have all liked believing in magic and then we grow up.
You can believe in anything you want to. I choose not to believe it God. Why, because of all the arguements that say wiccans are idiots and magic is impossible; the same is ture with your so called God. Religion is tool used for people to have faith in something higher up and to give them hope. In order for this world to really come together though and to understand each other, we either need to be able to share faith or abandon it completely.
Religion is a personal prefrence, so don't let what the mainstream adopts in your personal spiritual journey.

And anyone who leaves you over your belief, unless you're a zealot, isn't worth dating anyway. :)
I am pagan myself. You might want to do a little research before you decide on a religion. No. 1 Wiccan is pagan. The definition of pagan is any religion that worships the natural world. And No. 2 The 'magic' symbol, or five pointed star, is called a pentacle and is in no way satanic, inverted or otherwise. It is actually a very prominent pagan symbol that outdates christianity by thousands of years. It is a symbol for the five elements of nature. Contact me for some good books.
you call christianity and other religions stupid , so why are you whining about others judging you when you are doing exactly the same thing; judging other faiths. ? do they ever teach you about hypocrisy and open-mindedness?
I consider myself agnostic. I was born and raised in the Roman Catholic faith, and have received all of the sacraments of initiation. Furthermore, I work for a Roman Catholic religious education program, and teach the faith to 4th, 6th, and 7th grade students. Since I consider myself agnostic, not Roman Catholic, many of you may have a first impression that I am "corrupting the youth," "going to Hell," "soiling the Holy gospels," and other nice things like that. My job title is "Catechist," however I consider myself to be more of a theologian. I teach the Catholic faith to my students, I don't preach it.

There came a point in my life when I realized that if reading the Bible had taught me anything, it taught me that the most important thing about faith is that you REALLY believe in what you believe, whatever it is. Although many Catholics don't act like it today, the Bible teaches its followers to be tolerant of all other religions. It expressly says that after death, even those who did not follow the Christian faith in life can be saved by Jesus's love if they are free of sin, or at least repent for their sins. Since most cultures have strikingly similar views on what is and isn't "sinful," this seems that just about anyone, of any creed is eligible for entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven.

I believe in the possibility of a divine being or "God." I also believe in the difference between "right" and "wrong." As far as I am concerned, that is all that matters. Since human beings were blessed with free will and the ability to think for themselves, no two people should have the exact same religious beliefs. That is why I think organized religions are slowly fading out of modern culture. When they were first formed, it was a political thing. Groups of people with similar ideas would band together because they could agree upon things. A thousand years ago and earlier, the Pope had more political power and influence than all of the leaders of all of the nations of the world put together. Today, the Pope has about the same amount of power and influence as the leader of an average first-world nation. I think that the Information Age has put us on the brink of another philosophical revolution like the Enlightenment. More and more people are thinking for themselves, and not just accepting "the norm."

In this modern society, faith just doesn't have as much of a place as it used to. Very few people who are "religious" still even attend church regularly. I think it is a waste of time. Almost all religions teach that "God" can be spoken to whenever and wherever you are. The institution of the church was originally a meeting house. It is now, for most, a habit. One of the excellent quotes that can be found in the movie "Thirteen Conversations About One Thing" is, "Faith is the antithesis of proof." This being said, I think it goes to show that one who dedicates their life to faith is on par with dedicating their life to gambling. Humans have always feared the unknown, and life after death is the biggest question mark of them all. For this, I say:

If you don't believe in God, and it turns out He exists, He will forgive you when you are judged. If you spend your entire life devoting yourself to faith, and it turns out it is all wrong, you just wasted your whole life. When you look at it that way, I think its very easy to say, "I'll live my life for me now and I'll worry about what comes next when I get there."

I know this was very roundabout, but I hope my experiences and thoughts have been helpful to you. If the world was a more tolerant place overall, maybe you wouldn't have to ask if it is normal to think differently than everyone else. My fiancé is Wiccan and we get along just fine. There are a lot of people in the world. Some are open-minded and some aren't. The best advice that I can give you is to not worry about what other people think, as you usually can't get them to change by means of argument. The best way to make a difference in the world is to believe in what you truly feel, and not let majorities or the popularity of certain ideals change anything. Good luck.
Wow, you are retarded. All religions were originally cults. Cults become religion when their membership reaches a certain point. So therefore your gaywad cult will eventually become a religion. Just look at Scientology. In my opinion people will believe just about anything. Hell, some people believe that Jebus rose from the dead, walked on water, and performed other miracles.Others believe in Jihad, which currently glorifies suicide bombings. My favorite religion is the one practised by most Native Americans which is that of spirits. Yes say it with me spirits. In the age of imperialism the Europeans were armed with guns and small pox blankets. The Native Americans had bows, arrows, and of course the spirits. Well looking at the current make-up of America, the spirits weren't too helpful. I would say that unquestionable faith in anything is dangerous. It has led to the death of millions throughout the ages. Here is a short list: Rome's treatment of Christianity (lions), Crusades, Pogroms, Hitler's treatment of Jews (Holocaust), and why not Jihad.
Now that's what I'm talking about. Can I get an Amen, brother?

Hey I get your deal. Me I toyed with christianity until I noticed it wasn't for me. Then I started to get into the wicca/ pagan. What ever you choose to call it.It started when I was eleven. I got so scared I sneaked behind my mothers back and got a book. I freaked out and threw it away. Then I took it up again when I was 14. I mediatted and even joined an online coven. I'm 17 now and while I was in music class one day my chrisitian teacher made a small comment about Pagans. It hurt. It hurt because it made me realize is that people are not all going to accept it. That is why it is so secretive and hard to find teacher on it. The hardest fact is that it is a minority religion but guess what it is a religion. And it is recognized my many people including the american consittution as just that.

Just let me give you a hint. Just don't mention it to people. Sure it is sad to keep it in the dark but just wait till the time is right. Wear your pentagram if you want. ALo you should NOT under any circumstances mention to thers that you have done a spell. It takes away the power, stretching it thin. And one last thing. DOn't call other religions stupid. They are just not for you. The whole point of the Old religion is for it to welcome people. We tolerate other relgions and welcome them. This is sorta off subject. Have you ever heard of Cassadaga. It's floridas offical spiritualist camp. If you ever go there check it out. ALso SAlem, Ma , ironically, has more occult shops than anywhere.

And All you people who say we are to burn in hell guess what I say to that, as I have said before. YOu ARE NOT my judge or my executioner. When I meet him/her, then I'll be judged.
Spells? Are you daft?! You think that some sort of strange power comes from... things... and goes through your body allowing you to do things that defy the laws of nature and common sense?
