Nervous about seeing fiancee in Mexico

Ok, so my fiancee wants me to go to Mexico to visit her, but due to the increase in violence I feel nervous about going. She lives in a relatively safe part of Mexico City, but I still have my reservations. Then when I graduate college she wants me to live with her in Mexico for three months until she finishes her school (which is why she went back to Mexico to begin with). I've offered to pay for tickets for her to come here to the US many times, but she refuses because she says,"If I have to live in America the rest of my life with you, you need to live in Mexico a while". Is it normal for me not to want to go down there given the current situation down there, or am I overreacting?

P.S. I've visited Mexico already twice before for 3 weeks total, but this was a year ago before things got bad.

well if things get bad that fast you are totally overreacting because it would take a while for everyone running amock through mexico so it must be safe in the part she lives in just keep a close watch on things and you'll be fine.

Dude thats kinda of a racist way of thinking just because its mexico if it was that bad your girl would have gotten raped or killed already, the violence is the same as in the usa where people get shot in drivebys and serial killers mutilate people i can tell you that you have to same risk there than anywhere else, if you dont believe me be narrow minded and dont travel no more be a non cultured person
