Pausing between sentences while speaking?

Is it normal to pause between sentences in everyday conversation? As in, I insert a brief delay after "conversation" in the previous sentence and "As" in this sentence. This is how I've talked all my life.

Do you ever really get the chance to even say the following sentence? That's where everyone waiting for their turn to speak would jump in.

William Shatner made his career by putting the pause... in the middle of his sentences.

Yeah it like catches the other person to pay attention more, it good. Like it sounds very lyrical or like you are a good speech-deliverer.

its normal to do that. But is it normal to obcess about the way you speak....? now that my friend is the question,,,,
