Pulled on somethiong I shouldn't have

This happened in a large group of my friends, My GF's friend was wearing short shorts that she cut, so it had a few loose string here and there, well one was a bit longer then the others, so at one point I was standing next to her and decided to yank off the long string(it was bothering me for some reason) It was her time of the month and the string was attached to her tampon, so I ended up yanking out her bloody tampons in front of everyone.
I threw it and it stuck to the wall.
is that normal?
