I feel bad for lobsters because people boil them alive and you can hear them screaming. Is it normal? Should this practice be banned? Here's a <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/301402.stm"> link</a> to an article about it.
Tastes really good. If you don't like the way they are cooked then don't eat them. Alternatively try watching the slaughter of a chicken...quite amusing.
I do. I like to eat fried chicken but would you fry a live chicken or kill it first. The humane thing to do is kill it then fry it. If things were the other way around, would you prefer to be boiled alive or killed then boiled? I'd prefer the second option. Just some food for thought.
I'm talking about things within reason like killing a lobster before boiling it so it doesn't have to suffer unnecessarily. It's the least we can do for them. Does that make sense?
Just because something is legal doesn't make it right e.g. slavery, Communism, etc. We have to stand up for what is right and just then change the laws as we see fit.
I am all for animal welfare. I will not abuse an animal. I don't go hunting. When I go fishing, I use a pair of pliars to flatten the barbs on the hooks so that the fish can removed with far less damage to it's mouth etc. However...
We as humans developed faster than other species on earth and thus we now find ourselves on top of the food chain. I don't ear pork myself (filthy animals) but I understand people that do. Personal choice n all.
If people want to eat lobster and in the process boil it alive, well then so fucken be it. I won't do it myself but there you go.
If you for one second think a 500 pound lion will stop and think about your feeling before literally crushing your skull like a grape and quartering you; you are very much mistaken.
Also how many starving children in Africa would stop and ponder the lobster's feelings if they were presented one as a meal? Your stream of conscience displayed here is nothing more than the equivalent of veganism or some other Western fad - it's a luxury you can afford yourself.
Animal cruelty is sickening and people who do so are fucking scum but seriously - people should be allowed to eat lobster if they want.
I have nothing against eating lobster. In fact, people should continue to do so. It's just that they should kill them first before boiling them. It's a very simple and reasonable request. To me, it's the humane thing to do and it doesn't cost any more to do so. Yes, they taste better when they're boiled alive but it's still cruel. We have to think beyond our own wants and needs. We have to think about other organisms as well. That's part of being more "developed". Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
It's cruel but normal. If we're going to cook lobsters then we should let them die first so that they don't have to feel the pain. It's a very simple and reasonable think to do. Unfortunately, people won't do this unless they have to.
I understand the humanity of killing them first, but the only way you can eat it safely is by eating it Fresh/Cooked Alive, or if it was Flash Frozen and killed. I got severely food poisoned by lobster that had died before it was cooked, the body and shell begins to ROT within a very short time. Careful!
i think it's normal. i feel the same and want to be a vegetarian but my dad won't let me. :( you should so steal lobsters from a restaurant and release them into the ocean. like in the movies! or just buy one to go and then release it in the ocean..............
I understand what you mean. I don't eat lobster but I have hurd that thay are cooked alive. I don't thinnk it is right. But really its most all food, chickens, ducks, and some others are killed in a maner that I do not belive is right. Ive also seen fish skined alive. I will not have anything to do with that sort of thing. I'll eat it after the fact, but I dont want to see or hear any of it.
i think this is a myth i mean yes u can cook them alive but why that means u just steamed a lobster full of shit its better to kill it and clean it first but the whole its humane argument is just dumb what about all the lobsters in nature that dont even get cooked they just get eaten alive. ITS AN ANIMAL humane treatment isnt an issue people should focus on treating other people humanely
if your that worried about the lobsters insist they clean them before they cook yours personally red lobster is overrated eat somewhere else that has better quality or make your own
Have you ever seen a slaughter house. They march the cows in a straight line and each one falls down a 50 foot shaft with Gigantic powerful sharp blades rotating at about 300RPM.
The blood is everywhere.
I llke Outback the best because you get to eat a pretty good steak at a fair price without getting a bloody mess all over you.
I stay out of Red Lobster becuse of the way they boil the lobster and you can hear them screaming from the kitchen.
Yeah - you can't kill them and then boil them, you'll get sick. You have to put them in head first. And like other people have said, they're not screaming, it's just the air escaping their shells. They don't have nerve endings like humans do. The hot water kills them instantly.
Surely lobsters do feel pain. Isn't it necessary for every creature suvival wise? I don't see any reason why a lobster can't be killed before it is cooked. Knife between the eyes quickly and humanely. It's not as if it'll be left to rot.
I remember this one time ages ago, I was in malaysia with my family and they cooked the prawns alive in front of us. One prawn escaped, but the guy just dunked the poor thing back into the pot. They were going crazy :( I couldn't eat...sentimental? Maybe, but I'm not apologising.
you could pour a beer in there or some whiskey maybe. i mean you don't want explosions. medicate the lobster dude on the way out. i dunno. you gotta eat right. people forget sometimes.
Don't get me wrong. I like to eat lobsters too but we are using them to satisy our palates so why not return the favor and spare them the pain of being boiled alive. I think that is the least that we could do for them. Otherwise we are not showing them any respect.
If you don't like the way they are cooked then don't eat them.

i'm feeling depressed now
