I keep hearing voices in my head, no matter where I am. It can be at home or in the mall. They call me by my name, not loud, more like they whisper my name in my ear, but when I turn around there is nothing or no one there. Surprisingly enough I only hear these "voices" when I'm sober, not when I'm stoned. It's been going on for a few years now, but it variws in intensity. Any idea whassup with this?
You should get that checked out dood. Youll thank yourself in the long run
It's drving me bloody insane.
and btw im anti hospital. do whatever you can and do that as a last result!
I doubt this post is real, Anyone that would have such a scary thing happening to them would have went to a doctor stright away.
make an appointment with a therapist, but don't stress out and don't hurry.just calmly make an appointment and you might even be asked by the receptionist as to the nature of the visit.in sucha case mention exactly what you posted here in yahoo answers/.i would hope you're not posting a prank question as this is a rather serious matter/.well really maybe i should be glad if it's a prank.the only thing you'd have to deal with then is immaturity.if you're serious, which from the tone of the question, looked authentic,i urge you take my advice.and good luck
So, I cannot tell from your post whether or not these voices are saying more than your name, or only that.
However, please do not just to any extreme conclusions. You're fine physically, you know that this is happening, and you should approach this from a calm place.
I know I am not an expert, but do not take the advice of these random internet people too seriously (and, sure, you can include me in there.)
However, the guy I've been in love with for more than three years, the person I'm closer to than anyone in the world... he has paranoid schizophrenia, so perhaps you should heed my advice. :]
So. If these voices are consistent and very real sounding, then you are right in thinking that they may be a symptom of schizophrenia. However, if they are ONLY saying your name, you might not be suffering from something as severe as you may think. People can hallucinate without having schizophrenia.
That being said, do not rule it out. If the voices have been happening for a long time, then you truly may have this disorder. Do they ever recommend that you do things? Ask you questions? Give you information, tease you, or converse with you?
If any of those is a yes, then it seems likely that you have paranoid schizophrenia.
Your age is also important. How old are you? How old were you when the voices started? Schizophrenia usually emerges (especially in males) in the late teens to early twenties. This is because schizophrenia is usually a genetic disorder, and at this time in your life, something physically/chemically in your brain triggers the emergence of your disorder.
Rarely, extreme childhood trauma can contribute to or cause paranoid schizophrenia. The combination of genetics and trauma can cause early emergence of the disorder as well, or trauma alone can cause early manifestation.
If you ever see things that you know are not really there, this is also a sign. Even if these things do not take on a certain shape. For example, these hallucinations can simply be colors and shapes, or something mundane like a kitty.
Even if you do not have a lot of the signs I named here, everyone is different, and I still suggest that you see a psychiatrist if the voices continue and you are worried. Even if you don't think that you have schizophrenia, seeing a psychiatrist would be a good idea just to help with your auditory hallucinations, especially because things like this can get in the way of every day life.
man, i just realized my family is very unhealthy lool.
But definately get it checked out. Of course there are other beliefs out there, so look into it, but dont fall for everything u hear.
take care and best of luck
Give up the dope till you get your ehad looked at.
Every now and again, it's nice to light up a fat skunk joint and laugh at the people who thought they could get away with an ounce-a-day habit.
No one believed me when I said that my mother was more annoying than most others out there.
