Are You Normal?

Stage fright, nervous, sweating, shaking

Is it normal that I feel nauseas even just THINKING about public speaking? I'm pretty confident in myself, but once I have to present a project I find it impossible to calm down.

Despite my efforts to prepare myself for the presentation, once I went up to present I blanked out. The room was spinning, my face got hot, and I felt as though I was going to puke.
I read about stage fright but nothing works.

Is this beyond average stage fright or something more?
Do you think it's normal?

It is one of the most common fears there are. It does get better with practice. Try presenting in front of people you feel safe with (family or friends - your pet even). Preparation & practice help you with confidence.

But believe me - in music, theatre, academics, business, whatever - it is only experience that brings the confidence, and you can only get experience by facing this panic/anxiety in presenting. It is normal.

just pretend you are talking to yourself and forget about the audience. I never look at the audience when i speaking just at my paper. But it has helped a lot and now sometimes i look up and make eye contact. And while you are presenting think about how goo and proud you will feel after you have finished. Instead of feeling ashamed.
