Is it normal to wake up with no clothes on, clothes backwards, inside out, or backwards and inside out? This has been happening for years and years and I dont know if its normal or how to stop it. I've tried sleeping nude and then I'll wake up with clothes on....I just cant win. Any advice on that?
Also, this has happened before doing other things but specifically, last night I woke up tomyself taking out my foam ear plugs, and hurd myself saying in my head "stupid ear plugs" but i thought they were great, they werent hurting or even noticeable in my ears so i would not have taken them out....could this be a suttle sign of multiple personality disorder, or my left brain acting out against my body? i have no clue and i am just sick of this crap because I dont sleep good in general and i cant stand waking up to this stuff anymore.
one last thing, i will wake up,look at my alarm clock see a earlier or later time, then wake up again and see a later or earlier time...and no, that is not my eyes playing tricks because i see the times clarely, am i still dreaming when that happens?

no really? Thats' why i posted my story to get some general advice, to see if this happens to anyone else and if its worth my time to get checked out

I don't know about the clothes, but seeing the non-chronological time could be a dream. Its possible to open your eyes while dreaming and have open eyed distortions.

"I've tried sleeping nude and wake up with clothes on..."
I'm sorry but that is fucking hilairous. I'd record myself, and go see a specialist. But first I'd upload myself on YouTube! I think that is so funny and cool!

i think you should talk to someone about this

Maybe it's more likely to happen when you're stressed... I would definitely get it checked out just to be on the safe side.

Maybe try something like CBT?

Are you taking Ambien or some other sort of sedative? That shit will make you do incredibly strange things. Like sleep driving or eating or calling randowm people and having phone sex with them. I am serious.

It's probably anxiety related. Maybe even quasi-lucid dreaming. Or you might have a melatonin or seratonin imbalance. Talk to your doctor so you can get some relief!

no i am not taking any sort of sedative.
quasi-lucid dreaming kinda sounds like it could be it, but i'm not dreaming when i'm taking my clothes off....im awake when doing it but cant control it then quickly fall back to sleep.
and the melatonin or seratonin imbalance could be a realistic possibility. was reading up on that and i will try drinking warm milk(hot chocolate :P) before bed everynight to see if that will help this madness.....i woke up this morning comptely nude and it was freezing!! there's actually frost on my windshield this morning if that gives you an idea lol.
as long as this is something not really that serious i will hold it off until we move to japan. that or have the doctor give me some heavy dose sleeping pills so i at least will not wake up to myself doing this anymore lol

research sleep paralysis. The clothes could be related to sleep walking. The fact that it sounds like you're opening up your eyes while dreaming suggests this possibly. It sounds like your body isn't staying paralyzed during sleep like it should. I'd go see a doctor.

and research parasomnia.

I don't think that's normal, but that's amazingly interesting.

Yes, happens all the time.
Comment Hidden (show)
No thats not normal. Definitely look into why you're doing that.

You should ask your doctor, maybe you sleepwalk and do these things in your sleep, it could be your dream was loud so u got ear plugs

I have asked my doctor, and have been talking to a sleep therapist/ shrink about it....they are baffled but they think it has something to do with my chronic back pain, chronic depression and fibromyalgia. I also have neuropathy in my right leg, feet and hands. Everything listed I have been diagnosed with since confronting them about my sleeping issues in may 2011.

This actually has not been occuring as frequently anymore, or I'm too distracted by the sleep paralysis and night terrors to notice. Its a work in progress for all the doctors, and takes much longer to get a diagnosis b/c we are stationed overseas, and all my tests are sent up the country to the proper specialists. I'll keep everyone posted lol.

haha Its befuddling isnt it! At least you still have some articles of clothing left on lol. No the issue has not been figured out at this point. read my above reply to "jessisbest" that will give you a little information at least. the doctors are baffled but they're thinking its all connected to my chronic back pain b/c every symptom or problem pulls them right back to questioning and examining my back. The shrink suggested that i'm doing it in mysleep either because my body temperature may be changing too rapidly, or that I am subconsciesly in pain and uncomfortable,' and my body is trying to "adjust". I find it to be an interesting theory, but it doesnt explain the sleep paralysis and night terrors. I woke up one night to my husband shaking me b/c i guess i was screaming "get off of me, get off of me"...funny because i remember the dream and i just wanted the thing to get away not off. anywho. will post an update in march when i get my neurology test back about my back

You should go to a sleep centre and they can monitor you while you sleep.

It does remind me a bit of multiple personality disorder. I don't think this is sleep walking.

Good Luck!

Sounds like a sleep walking problem. Sleepwalking isn't like some zombified state. To an observer a sleepwalker would be hard to detect. Your eyes would be open and everything would seem normal until the sleepwalker takes a glass out of the cupboard and puts it in the fridge grabs the milk and then pours it down the sink. Do not wake up a sleepwalker just monitor them and if possible guide them to bed.

My daughter is 16 & taking celexa for depression & anxiety. In the last week she has been waking up to little or no clothes on at all. I don't think this can possibly be normal. She does not sleepwalk as far as I know. Can anybody else relate? Specifically on this medication. She does not remember undressing in her sleep.
