I am the original poster, and no, I am one of the least racist people in my area. I just don't like how everyone is striving for darker skin, just be happy with the way it looks. I've seen white girls though, that could pass for mexicans the way their skin has been tanned.

I think tanning is unwise but a little colour looks healthy though. I stopped tanning 10 yrs ago because I didn't want a face like a purse later on. So far so good, I still look younger than I am. I tatoo my lungs with cigarettes instead. At least I'll be a good lookin' corpse.

Actually if you did research cigarettes make you look older than you are after long term use. You still have time to quit.

Thanks, I appreciate your optimism. I've quit a lot worse things in my life but this is one of my last ones to tackle. Even though I know all the facts, I still lack the drive to quit. I've learned that 'drive' is the key and only I can make that happen. Booze and drugs, over-spending, nail biting, tanning etc. were a piece 'a cake compared to cigarettes. One vice at a time, one vice at a time.........
As for tans, I think any person's true complexion looks great. A bit of a glow is nice. Very dark tans sometimes give a 'generic' effect though, actually hiding a person's individual beauty. (but that's just my opinion)

im really white and i dont really mind, but alot of people tell me to go tanning or go in the sun more, i go in the sun enough and i dont care if im white, thats the color i was my whole life, why would i want to change that?? but i also agree a little glow isnt bad, but i think getting a fake tan is stupid.

I was ranting about it today, actually. They all look like leathery whores. Straightened hair with blonde dye or highlights, flip flops, under-arm purses, thick-ass makeup. You don't need to be good looking to be hot anymore, just fuck yourself up beyond recognition.

ahh dude I live in south texas and I am half and half hispanic/white and i have realy dark skin from being in the sun all the time and its not because i go out and get tans its because i have a job so i suggest you go out and get one to it will teach you somthing about the sun

I hate dark tans too. Some skin tone looks good but too many people overdo it. In other cultures, such as throughout Southeast Asia, people cover themselves from sunlight to avoid tanning. White, pale skin is considered more attractive than darker toned skin in many societies.

Why do you want white girls to looks so pale. It is ugly on some people. Some girls look good with tans. Yes later in life their skin looks like leather, but for the time being its hot!!

I'm decently pale... But I have no desire to make myself darker. However, people are deceptive by nature, tans are no different. By the same logic people should not dye their hair, straighten it, or wear makeup.
However I think when people turn that fake tan orange they look funny.

Usually people love girls being tan.

Yes, I agree that a tan on anyone looks REALLY REALLY UGLY. These people look like burnt toast or like they're unwashed and covered in dirt. Leathery brown skin = revolting.

I also think black people who whiten their skin look terrible too. Whereas they can look really beautiful naturally.

I'm almost thinking of leaving Australia for Northern Europe because my stomach churns at all the gross-looking orange-brown-leathery people here.

Up until the last few decades tans were considered "YUCK". They were the mark of plebs who had to work in the fields. Whereas those who had a choice knew to protect their skin.

The whole tanning fad was promoted by those who make a fortune from it: makers/sellers of tanning lotions and tanning salons. It's criminal the advertising propaganda that makes people unable to feel good about looking natural and to do ridiculous self-damaging things to turn white skin orange/brown or to turn black skin an insipid olive-green-brown.

Tanned white people and whitened black people are walking billboards that say: "I've been brainwashed by lame ads to be ashamed of my natural self; so now I spend money and time to look like a clown".

I know! Why can't white people be tan. I eamn orange tans aren't that attractive, but why can't white people get some color sometimes. And for your information, not all white people are pale. Pale is like the color of really light people, or people who are like sick(I'm not saying that all pale people look sick though). What about, for example, Italians?? Their considered white, and not all of them are pale. A lot of them are as dark as hispanic people. South Europeans are usually darker, while Nordic people are usually lighter. Also, there are other countries with dark whites. So basically I'm just trying to say that not all white people are pale, and if they are dark, it's not always from the sun!

I have natural brown hair, and I have naturally pale skin, and I don't look dead. You ever think that if people kept their natural hair color and skin tone they wouldn't look washed out and dead because the colors are MEANT to go together?

you're not tattooing your lungs, you're ROTTING them. it's a mystery where you got the idea that smoking is correlated with good looks. it destroys the natural collagen in your skin and causes premature wrinkling. it also (google) "causes the narrowing of blood vessels throughout your body, including those that supply the outermost layers of the skin with oxygen and nutrients" and so gives your skin a fetching dried out and greyish appearance - talk about getting some colour! the best thing you can do for your appearance, not to mention your health, wellbeing, and bank account, is to quit smoking.

I really don't understand all the fuss about tans, i think they look ugly, in fact if I had the choice i would make my skin look paler. And including the fact that it is impossible to tan safley, i really dont understand why, whenever i go to queensland on holidays the beaches are packed with retarded looking leathery old hags, and insecure teenagers trying to get a tan.

My sister spends her days at noosa trying to get a tan, its just stupid, natural selection at its best, thousands of people trying they're best to kill themselves.

A slight tan, but in a healthy way(such as tanning cream) is alright on a naturally light skinned person. I agree that those orangey fake looking, sun burn skin is not attractive and can cause cancer and makes people age fast(looking 40 at 20).

A little bit of a tan looks good, but it's fucking disgusting when white girls tan so much they look Mexican..especially older white ladies that are all wrinkly, and tan as hell. Ew D:
