"Theory" of evolution

in science, "theory" means a way of thinking, not something you are not sure about. many people do not understand this.

if this doesnt make sense to you, think about atomic theory. you may not believe it because it is just a "theory", but atom bombs were build on it, and there is nothing "theoretical" about losing your ass in a mushroom cloud.

Evolution is a fact, it occured, it is occurring, and it will occur as long as life continues on earth.

the only people disputing this are stupid rednecks who believe a book written 2000+ years ago and translated and changed radically about 1000 times since then.
Do you think it's normal?

I believe there is to much evidence proving it did happen to even tri to deny it. But I still believe in god and that he created us. Its hard to live by a book that was written in different times and probably curupted along the lines but the basic principals to it should be good enough to go by. Evolution has been prooven and anyone who doesnt believe it is lying to them selves but this doesnt give me enough to doubt god and religion all together.
Maybe this will change your mind, Chris. Actually, you'll probably just ignore it because the speaker is black. Regardless, the thought of intelligent design is just stupid.

Hes right on with all his facts, that is not enough to make me denouce my faith though (nothing is). I will not be the one to say its bullshit when its all been proven but I still believe in god.
faith---the belief in god that allows one to go on the internet and call everyone gay and cocksuckers and advise that gay peoples homes should be burnt down.what a joke.
My faith doesnt include homosexuals so I can say whatever the I want about them or how I feel about pole smokers. I never claimed to be a saint or born again virgin but I do believe in god and just how much do you think your little ass wipe comments are going to effect that? You are such a tool, you are the typical tard who is to stupid to see that being gay is immoral and just plain wrong. Your probably gay anyways, you have never denied it and it figures.
Let's look at you first, Chris. UFC=LAME!! sure, it used to be good, but it's for fags now. So who's the fag now? Being gay may not be moral, but it's around us, and we have to learn to accept it. We learned to accept blacks, right? and dildos? and condoms? so what makes homosexuality so 'unnatural'? Why start a fight over something SO simple as a man likeing another man, or women liking women? they've been around as long as the world has been around, there's nothing we can do to change it. the bible says it's wrong, but the bible has been changed. if you read the koran, which is the closest thing to the original translations, it doesn't say much about homosexuality. if i remember right, it says nothing. so Shut the fuck up.
So how can you believe that both are true?
Oh piss off you arab bastard. They SAY their shit hasnt been changed, you dont know that for a fact besides most arabs are homosexuals I know that for a fact so why would they ban their all time favorite past time off man on man love. You go and support your gay friends all you want and march for their rights too for all I care but im not supporting them or accepting them so get over it. Have a nice day ass hole.
@: Fred
Put it this way im not some redneck that looks at facts of evolution and still says "thats not true man" but I'm not going to automatically assume that god isnt real and faith in religion is all bullshit.
"how do you create the first self replicating which provides the basis for evolution...how did billions of amino acids manage to order themselves in the exact right order to create the DNA and proteins in this first cell???"

You seem to be missing the whole point of the theory.
To the poster, you have got it all wrong, we descended from the ancestors of The Great White Rodent.

The rest is merely small talk, gossip or downright lies.
We are all going to die.
If you guys are so retarded to not realize the fact that after EXTENDED RESEARCH Darwin denounced evolution and in fact it was really just natural selection. NOT evolution. you dumbfucks need to brush up on ur fucking history b4 u go hang ur balls out like that.

BTW we did not come from monkeys. they are stupid asshats who like eating bugs and picking their ass. only the second thing is true about man. but only the lazy faggots pick their ass.

Fuck you evolutionists and fuck communism
and for you idiots who dont know what natural selection is, here is an explanation:

When a large berry is in season, larger birds survive better than smaller ones, this is because smaller birds cant eat big seeds n shit. when smaller seed and fruit is in season, the smaller birds survive better, because the big birds need bigger food to survive, and the smaller ones can just eat and eat the small things. this happens so on and so fourth. this process affects preditors of the bird and preditors of the preditors of the bird. and so on and so fourth.

I hope all the retards out there can understand this simple explanation
evolutionists and communism....lol
btw, evolution theory does not say that humans came from monkeys. It says that humans and monkeys come from a common ancestor.

Anyone who doubts this should attend a ball game or watch their local legislature in action to see the evidence of this.
Your penis will soon fall off.
funny cause it just did. wow
natural selection spoecifically is fact.
I rarely make judgments on people's characters this way but....

If you don't believe it you are deluded and turn your head from what is right in front of you aka a leech on intelligent thought.
Ok just a question here if I may, evolution originated in the 19th century, why is it that nothing has been found that backed the same principles? why didn't anyone else before then come up with something similar to the idea of natural selection? I personally don't believe in evolution, and I think that Charles Darwin, and Alfred Russell Wallace were just trying to set out a way to cause rebellion towards the majority of religion all around them. It is a theory, and it has it's facts just like other theories,it shouldn't be considered a matchless truth. Despite the ink wasted to print the lie that is in our school's textbooks, people need to learn to choose what they want to believe, and not what they should believe in,as goes for religion as well, some people can't seem to do that either.

There have been many changes that fit into the theory of natural selection. In science there needs to be MAJOR evidence to be accepted as a legitimate theory and backed by the scientific community.
While Darwin's theory brought the theory of evolution into the public eye, people have utilized selection in ways that mime the natural processes of evolution.
It blows my mind that people do not make the connection between something like dog breeding to natural selectiom, which is the major foundation of long term evolution.
Bloodhounds are not natural. They have been bred over generations, and the ones with the most desirable traits give birth to the more ideal versions of the breed. WHat is not to get?
@: Potato
ok but dog breeding was caused by humans mostly they did that to dogs, not all breeds just happened on their own. People bred different dogs with each other to get a certain breed right?. I don't really know, because I'm only famaliar with the basics when it comes to natural selection, and evolution so I forgive me in my ignorance. I think that natural selection could possibly be the answer to some things in nature, but it is possible some species of animals, and all living organisms for that matter have just become exstinct for a long time,or the things that we find that are new just reappear from time frames that we never caught them in.
Yes modern dogs were bred from wolves (and maybe dingos) but the human selection process is alike to natural selection- where those with the desirable traits live, and the ones unable to adapt eventually get weeded out through generations. For example, when pangea split, if a continent moved north and became cold, the animals whose genes caused them to retain fat would give them a genetic advantage. It can be that simple.
No, animals don't just reapear if every last one of them has died. They may become few in number, and have a resurgence. I am not sure what you are talking about. If you are talking about fossilized evidence you have to remember that there are many conditions that need to be just right for a fossil to be preserved in the first place.
@: Potato
Theoretically, I would have to disagree with that assessment. Again, theoretically, it is quite possible, with an infinite (or near infinite) time frame it should be possible for me to breed and evolve cockroaches into an exact copy of myself. If I had a computer to map the exact genetic code of myself, and one to map the exact genetic code of a number of cockroaches and killed off all the cockroaches that least resembled myself while allowing the ones that closer resembled myself to reproduce and repeated the cycle of eliminating the ones that least resembled myself, eventually I'd have bred a cockroach that is the exact genetic copy of myself. So I would have to say that it is possible for an extinct species to re-evolve, though highly unlikely.
@: Fred
I disagree- humans have dormant genes that are remnants of our evolutionary history- though they only go back so far (not sure how far) so technically you would have to breed a cockroach to match the dna of one of our far back common ancestors (which we don't have a genetic map for as of now) and then from THERE follow the mapping of our genes... so in theory theyh might look like people, but their DNA would have differences.
In the past animals in different parts of the world have evolved to look like other animals (pandas look like bears but are related to the racoon, and bears are related rather to canines) but I don't think that there has been enough time for genetic replicas to be produced.
you guys make my brain hurt.

-dirt dobbler
@: Potato
"though they only go back so far"

In my scenario, time isn't really that big of a problem, since as I stated before, I do have an unlimited amount of time to get the job done. So even if I did get it wrong the first 100,000,000,000,000,000 times, I could start over again. So it could be possible. The fact that I would have a map of my own genes, and the maps of all the cockroaches would indicate that I knew how to go about evolving the cockroaches into a copy of myself. My ultimate point is that it is possible, if I was given the right circumstances and time period.
@: Fred
true true
its probably as likely as a bunh of molecules assembling themselves into a barbie doll...
@: Potato
Given my current abilities, yes, it is highly unlikely.

Given the terms and conditions I have set forth in my theoretical scenario, no. With an infinite period of time, ideal conditions, and my eternal guidance, the outcome would be inevitable. I would evolve a cockroach into a replica of myself.
@: Fred
wouldn't it be more fun to evolve a human into a cockroach? :P
@: Potato
Possibly.
I agree, when someone says something is a theory, then it's probably true. However, natural selection can't explain EVERYTHING. Like when fishes became amphibians then lizards, how do they lose their gills? Yes, it's possible that one in a million amphibians will be born without gills, but he will not be able to breed, therefore making itself useless. I think it's a mix of natural selection and evolution. For example, there is a tribe that puts rings on their necks. eventually they grow more than twice as long as normal necks. Their children are more likely to have longer necks, and eventually they will all be born with long necks. Same with amphibians/fishes. They use their gills less and less, so their gills become more and more useless. eventually they have no effect, and after hundreds of thousands or millions of generations, the gills disappear all together.
wow your so ignorant cause youve never read the bible. and it actually hasnt been changed since its been written
Actually, the Bible isn't a book. Rather, it's a collection of religious and historical texts gathered together by early Christians.

The First Council of Nicea convened in 325 C.E. and sorted through the texts they could find in an effort to create a definitive book that corroborated Constantine's view of Jesus as the messiah.

Interestingly, they eliminated some 80% of the texts gathered because those texts did not support their story. Since that time, the Bible has been modified - sometimes slightly, sometimes grossly - several times.

One of the most significant revisions - and one I think is pertinent to some of the comments I've read here - resulted from writings by Augustine of Hippo (Saint Augustine) in which he created the idea of original sin. This and many other puritan ideas sprang from his inability to deal with his own sexuality.

Since he couldn't align his evolution-based desire for sex with his religiously forced denial of it, he wrote that humans were sinful if they attempted to fulfill their natural desires.

If you do a little research and don't ignore what you find, you'll conclude that the Bible has been modified many times by many people.
Evolution does not make sense to me at all. I believe in God and creation, but that doesn't mean I'm some kind of idiot redneck with my head up my ass. I don't even really know much about evolution to argue over whether it is the only possible way life originated, because it never interested me. I do question however, is it possible for humans to have been here for so long, and still be alive today? I think not, we are way to cruel for that.

Actually if you read the book of Revelations you might find that things actually match up, and everything in history is exactly as the Bible portrays, coincidence? Perhaps not.
The evolution argument interests me a lot, I believe in evolution. I especially didn't like the part that god first started out as some desert god and some day people decided to change it to the basic parts of judaism and christianity and from there they just changed both religions more and more until we have what we have today.

So thats what revelation is about then. I might read into it sometime, if I have the time, recently I've been staying up till like 1 in the morning doing school work, though I do start at like 11, so... I guess I can change that.
ok, think about this - you have a strong opinion about a scientific theory you admittedly haven't studied and don't know much about. Why? Where does your opinion come from? What other scientific theories do you have an opinion on?

what is your opinion on atomic theory? or theory of planetary motion? do you have one?

Think about WHY you have an opinion on evolutionary theory, and where that opinion comes from, and that will answer alot of questions for you.
pringletot - where in the hell did you get that theory from? The Bible never tells us how God started out, haven't you even heard of Adam and Eve? The religions started because of the tribes of Abraham(jews), and Ishmael(modern day muslims).

pooltoy - I know enough that I want to know about those theories, I believe in creationism.
No the religion, the first people to believe that stuff, first believed in a desert god and over time they changed that, it went to Zoroastrianism first and that gave the whole heaven and hell thing and from there it went to Judaism and Christianity, which also affected the Muslim religion too. All those religions originated from that one old religion and just separated over time.

And I was saying that I didn't like how these religions just evolved from the original desert god belief.
hey, that's cool.

btw, if you are ever out at sea, don't sail off to far. I hear you might fall off the edge of the earth, and then monster's chew you up.

:D
HAHA! You guys are too funny. I never thought when I got out in the real world that almost everyone I met outside of a CHURCH would believe in evolution and accept it whole-heartily, and most importantly think people who don't believe in it are stupid. LOL.

I have never heard of that theory pringle, but people throughout history have always had some kind of idea that some god was out there, that's why they had idols.

All I do know is man is not smart enough to figure out his origin, I go by faith, and that alone.
There is no theory of evolition hust a list of creatures that Chuck Norris allows to live

The big bang theory was really Chuck Norris giving a roundhouse kick to the head
My thing wasn't a theory, it wasn't saying how we were created or how god was created or anything, that religion that existed thousands of years ago believed in some desert god, dont know bout the details though, and from there it changed till it got to Zoroastrianism, which is similar to Christianity. It had Ahuramazda (god) is the supreme deity but was challanged by Angra Mainyu (the devil) and good and evil fight for twelve thousand years, and in the mean time we are just sitting here caught in the middle of it. If we are good in our lives we are rewarded (heaven) and if we are bad weare punished (hell) that whole religion came from the belief in a desert god. God starting out as a desert god isn't a theory in it's self.
haha, so true.
Hey prigle dont let what happened to you in chat the other day put you of I think its been fixed now hope to see you back there
I know, I haven't been on because I seriously need to do my AP world hw, spent the last 10 hours doing it and I'm not even halfway thru. I'll go back on the chat once I'm done with this though.
you're smart for a high school kid. I'm impressed with you.
lol
How do you "know" that man is not smart enough to figure out his origin. If you studied biology and evolution, you would have no problem understanding our orign.

For more on the Adam and Eve idea, see my post here: http://isitnormal.com/story/23635/#comment-263637

It raises questions which you might find eye-opening.
ughhh im wayyy too lazy to comment on this one....if yu wanna see my pro aryguements just go search "i hate christians" and "There is no god, or if there is hes an ass"
im highschool too =D grade 9 =3
