To be honest, I think all but the ugliest of girls would be potential rape victims, some people are that desparate, so there may be some validity in what they say, depending on where you live of course. Say you live in a really posh area, then that may be vain.

They sound kinda silly to me, though it is normal to be afraid of being raped,and people do get raped... But there are so many ways to be safe. Always go with another girl and stick together. Just don't go out late with a straight guy friend, they are the biggest statistical risk.
I prefer the company of lesbians anyway, but even then you still have to be careful of the older obsessive cougar types.
If you are walking down an empty sidewalk stick to the street side, or if the street is empty you can walk on the road.
Biggest point though, is the buddy system. Always keep a girl friend by your side if you are walking around. Look out for each other. If she ends up wandering off with someone and you can't get a hold of her just call for a taxi home.

i think its normal. if someone wants to rape someone, i doubt they're worried about your appearance, they most likely just want sex.

i think its sad that EVERY woman on the face of this earth are afriad to go outside. it makes men seem like predators... rape is actually a fairly rare problem unless you live in a heavily urbanized area.

You and your friends would be smart to take personal safety and put it in perspective: neither too extreme in fear, or totally denying it as an issue. Take practical precautions such as those suggested.

First of all, most rapists go for vulnerable / unaware people, not supermodels. I think you need to get over yourself.

It's normal to think that, BUT any girl can become a victim of rape, regardless of looks. Just be careful yourself.
