Everytime i watch movies or TV and an act of violence takes place, I feel like it's going to happen to someone I love or hold dearly unless I indicate verbally to my self that it wont or some other conscious decision.
I wouldn't exactly call it normal, but being superstitious is very common. Many people knock on wood when they talk about something bad so that it wont happen. If you HAVE to do it though, it's bordering on some kind of compulsive behavior I think. Often when people feel scared and out of control they turn to rituals to give them the illusion that they are in fact in control of the world and they can prevent all the scary bad things from happening.
I'm the same way. I can't watch horror movies because if feel like everything is possible. You don't have to watch kiddy movies but if you are OK with telling yourself after that everything will be fine then go with that
