Is it normal to hate EMO so much that I wasted my time posting this on isitnormal.com
What’s wrong with Emo? Not a very hard question to answer, I'm sure you'll all figure it out once they let you out of eighth grade, but just in case you find yourself unable to obtain that coveted C+ on your remedial math test; here, I typed it out for you (Granted, I’m assuming that you can read through that thick layer of hair you have slicked down in front of your eyes, I bet you tell people that it’s just the way your hair naturally grows.) Anyway, back to what’s wrong with emo: teh band members put on teh sad face and sing about teh depression because, though they aren't actually depressed, they just want to FIT IN with the rest of the “NON-CONFORMISTS” (The Hypocrisy is almost palpable). Newsflash: Real Life isn't like The O.C. or whatever show it is that you people watch in secret, there are no Jocks roaming the streets, hell bent on oppressing you whilst they toss around a football. (Judging from what I have experienced anyway; granted I've gone to mostly art schools my entire life.). Also, most emo bands blast sh*tty power chords in attempt to hide the fact that they can't play very well (Take it from someone who plays Piano, Guitar, drums, and even the Harp for f**k sake). To the fans: If you want to listen to sad music, whatever, thats cool, go for it, but I have an idea, why not make it... now stay with me on this one... sad music that’s actually PLAYED WELL (Complete with vocals that are actually sung as opposed to screamed/moaned into a microphone.). You know music that doesn't spam cliché "cut myself, she broke up with me, break my bleeding heart sobsobsob" lyrics. Do yourself a favor; listen to Elliott Smith and Nick Drake, do it now. No excuses. Another thing, listening to sh*tty emo music doesn't make you deep, or more of an individual. Nor will it automatically make you "Against the mainstream". In fact, I'm pretty sure most of the My Chemical Romance/ Fallout Boy/ Hawthorn Heights type bullsh*t is all over MTV. You’re not exactly blowing my mind with your darkness (Or your parent’s mind’s for that matter) when you flip your bangs out from in front of your eye(s) and tell me your favorite band is Good Charlotte.
All I will say is:
I'm probably a lot smarter than you.
@ Corbin, your right this post was pointless, and I'm voting that I am not in fact normal for making it. I recant my statement that "I hate emo." and replacing it with "I strongly dislike emo." I do this, because I have such a deep seeded fear of being branded a bigot on an anonymous "post your problem" website. I am completely terrified of what you twats think of my lil' batman handle.
(The terror, OH NOES!).

But people that make illnesses like depression and self mutilation trendy and pety... need to be shot in the foot, smacked with a large blowfish, and assraped by rosie Odonnel.
A Do Hate Emos Though.
Everyone thinks its ok to be a jerk to someone..
I hate country too!
So thats why you emos might hear:
"Stfu you emo and go die already."
drop them and we won't have this problem
we are all humans, not different species
if you don't like emo people, I HATE YOU
Oh yeah...and uh, what does the music have anything to do with the actual "Way of Life" ? Emo music is a part of the culture, but there are thousands of other aspects of emoness that you left out. You suck as a ranter. Leave it to the people who actually know how to argue without cursing and irrationally befalling the curse of a becoming a total asshole.
You just got owned by a 15 yr old.
OWNED!
some of the styles quite nice too. :)
well people can act any way they want...it's their life not yours if they bother you THIS much then you have problems...
"emos" were probably orginated from a disaster in their life, obviously something bad happend that made them like this.
of course if your talking about wemos i agree 100%
I can't believe you even bothered writing that.
You're view of 'emo' is completely stereotypical. I wonder if you have ever actually got to know a so called 'emo'? Then maybe you would realize they are just people who live their lives slightly differently to you. You said that they were all trying to fit in? Well I hate to tell you but many of them aren't and if they were that would be totally normal as most humans want to feel as though they fit in and aren't 'strange' or weird' or whatever. 'Emo's' have to put up with so much s**t from people like you that it actually takes some corage to be what they want to be and live how they want. You said they were all trying to be the same when actually as someone has already mentioned they may be conforming to their own subculture but it is a sub culture that does not conform with the rest of society.
Your argument is mostly about the music anyway and you are totally wrong about the music. 'Emo' music isn't all sobsob whatever. Quite a few of 'emo' songs actually have a deep meaning behind them. You seem to think all emo's listen to My Chemical Romance and those types of bands. Not all do. The music also isn't all just s**tty power chords but often complicated tabs and bass lines. You can have your opinions on music, fine, but so can everyone else.
You shouldn't hate a person because they listen to a certain music and definitely not hate a person because they kind of fit in with a stereotype. I like bands like Dashboard confessional and stuff but I also like Elliot Smith. You say you are so knowledgeable on this subject. Well I'm sorry to break it to you but many people who are branded 'emo' are also. I think I know what I'm talking about when it comes to music (I also play guitar, drums and then bass, flute, piano and basically anything else not to mention singing).
People should not judge others by the way they dress or the sub cultures they might fit into. This is stupid and pathetic. Though I guess you might just grow out of it. To have this strong opinion on people you must either only know wannabe 'emo;s' who are trying to be the same as the rest and want to seem depressing and blahblahblah. They, yes, can be really annoying (I do know some). Most of the time the wannabe's who tell everyone about how they cut there wrists every night have never put a blade anywhere near their wrist and just want attention. They are just sad people who need some friends and some support and then they'll be fine. =) They don't eed this hate when they have done nothing wrong. Not the annoying wannabe's but the actual 'emo's' are quite cool people. They are happy like the rest of us they just live and dress differently.
I have been branded 'emo' before and I wouldn't take it as an offense but I am not 'emo'. People who go around labeling and hating people because they dress a certain way are immature and insecure. They just need something to hate so that they feel better themselves. It's not attractive.
Don't hate people for expressing themselves and having their own opinions. You may know two 'emo's' but what about the rest? They all have different personalities. They're not all clones of each other.
You should love everyone instead. Hating is bad. You obviously judge people far too easily.
(Yes that was a rather c**p rant but it was better than yours! Oh and to the person who was 15 and said they owned the poster of this tread well I topped that. You got owned by a 14 year old!)
But, you are judging people by their personal style and music taste! You think that anyone who does anything that a stereotypical emo might do IS that stereotype!
Personally, I love screamo and other 'emo' types of music, as well as the style. But i am a perfectly happy person, and I don't do it to be cool (which it isn't), or for attention. I do it because I am just being myself, and I just LIKE it! the same reasons that 'normal' people dress and act the way they do.
weird how guys with eyeliner should be hot but damn it they just are!!
It was a well-written post, but I kind of wish I could have those few seconds of my life back.
Why hate a subculture because you think they make horrible music? Just let them be and listen to the music YOU love. Err... I hope it's not anger issues... This hatred you have for emos is comparable to my brother's hatred of some kid who was bragging about his nonexistent basketball skills. Let the kid brag. How does his boastfulness pertain to YOU, specifically?
So what if My Chemical Romance or whatnot got on MTV? Are you jealous that they are and you're not? Who cares. Listen to what YOU like, be who YOU want to be, and just live your life in peace (and let those emo kids live in peace, as well). Problem solved.
I don't believe it's a valid reason to hate people if they're doing what they like and they're not harming you in any way.
does it not occur to you that someone may be emo because they actually have something to be depressed about
you're being sterotypical and it's pointless
not all emo's listen to just emo music and im sure people that are not emo might like those bands
