Is it weird to live a live of moderation and a minimalist of aqusitions in this highly Capitalist society?
Now i feel guilty that i didn't spend enough money to keep at least my local area in the black.

you seem to be doing what's best for you, it isn't really your responsibility to keep your bank in business. there are lots of people out there spending money they don't have, and many more spending money they do have, so if your lifestyle works for you then that's good, it's the system that's flawed.
Highly capitalist? With our rising taxes in the U.S. and the bad economic times I think that the need for money and security for families financially is up a lot.
How much money do you actually have that you could contemplate keeping your area in the black? Your post reads more like a teenager living at home than some baron of finance.

Fake.
Ollieo, They keep repeating that if you spend money in your community it can help out on average about 7 other businesses.
I feel guilty for not liking to shop, therefore not helping those shops and my community.
I am no Baroness of anything. I was just asking if it is normal for my guilt.
If it is fake to feel this way, then why do i feel this way?
OK - I apologize. That was harsh.

There are things you must do: pay for food; clothing; take a bus; pay rent; utilities. That contributes to the local economy.

Part of the free market ethos is willing seller & buyer. You aren't a willing buyer. And so there is nothing to be guilty about because that is a problem for the market, not you.

If you are looking at contributing to the community look to other forms: especially in-kind contributions of your time and skills. Volunteer. I mean it.

You guilt may be because you want to contribute locally, but the private market offers little.

More on this .. (because I do feel guilty about my crummy reply!) I think the buy local thing is about making choices that benefit the local economy. So if you were planning to buy something, buy it local, i.e. locally produced & marketed. I think you are looking at the wrong sector - there is a voluntary sector that helps people & produces jobs doing so. If you don't want to volunteer more - take some of the $ you might of spent on stuff you don't want & put it there.

Anyway, some ideas. Sorry again ...

I am a lover of Voltaire and so you need not ever have to apologize for how you honesty think.
You have some great ideas in your reply.

I love volunteering and i am blessed to live in an area where buying most everything locally is very easy.

TY for your kind response.
