I am doing a paper for college about why so many people confuse the techno/house/trance/electro/rave genres of music, particuarlly in the midwest. Also i would like to know what is the difference between these genres? Please help me!
techno is some crap you hear at a gay club with someone singing "dance..move yo bodayyy, feel the beat etc" trance is some shit you sit back to or can go jogging to..it has like a steady rhythm not too many lyrics or atleast lyrics telling you to dance
Hmm, if I showed you a painting by Renoir and another by Matisse, and asked you to identify which was which, could you?
Well, maybe you could, but I bet it would have absolutely nothing to do with whether or not you were midwestern.
Generally speaking, the name for each type is determined by the type of instruments used by the artist, or the particular way in which the instrument is used i.e., elctro would be associated with electronic instruments, synths, electronic drums etc; Trance would be aimed at invoking that kind of state of mind.
Try googling each type and listen to them, or look them up on Wikipedia.
mmm.. you made me wonder.. I don't listen to those genres.. I'm more into Rock and Metal .. anyway I found this over the internet.. Check it out if you want.. see the best answer
look its the same with rockpunk/metal and techno/house/blah blah.
When people don't know the difference than they confuse the terms, and it makes sence for you because you know the difference

However it would be interesting to know the distinct differences.
