People call me emo. i'm not. I have long hair and like the color black. There's nothing wrong with that. I wear band shirts a lot so that apparently makes me emo.

I dislike when people call themselves emo because I can see a lot more potential in a person instead of someone who sulks, whines, is TRYING to be goth, and overall increasing worldsuck. Just be you... and not an emo. Emos are inherently not likeable people. That's like saying "Hey, I'm a pessimist...but why do you hate me? I don't get it!!?!?"

I often don't like emo people that identify themselves as emo. Why?
because they conform to a subculture that makes hating life cool and makes people with REAL issues seem superficial.
They have given a bad name to depression, insecurity, and most of all cutting.
Cutting is a serious habit that has been trivialized and made into a trend. People see scars and they think "that person must be following this or that trend"
Many emo people do not truly believe in what they supposedly stand for, and have no reason for acting the way they do.
I find it trivial and disgusting.
Thats my opinion.

I'm not emo, and I don't understand them for the most part, so I'm not defending or judging them, but society (which I do understand for the most part) is crap. Why not turn your back on it? At the same time, I'm not about to conform to a sub-society that conforms to the ideals of not conforming to society. That's just hypocritical, in my opinion.

Instead, they should just go to their school counselor and talk about the stuff that is bothering them in their life. I was picked on alot in school and I didn't go emo. I just worked my problems out with the counselor. I would never go emo because that's stupid. Emos also wish they could just die. If they wanna die, why can't they just kill themselves? People don't wanna be around people who are like that.
