My self-image and my perception of my own attractiveness changes by the hour. Sometimes I feel incredibly beautiful, and slim. Then sometimes I feel really fat and ugly. I'm 20, so I assume it's par for the course at my age. Is it common?
It's normal to feel that way. I feel that way too. But I don't neccessary think that as you age you will get bigger. I am 31 and have 3 kids. 2 of them are twins. I weigh exactly what I weighed before the twins. I'm sure you look just fine.
Body dysmorphia disorder. It's extremely common among women in their teenage years and early twenties. Just don't let it get you down and know that you will get over the "fat" bits.
skinny girls are the best. i'm sure you look great. just post a pic to hotornot or myspace and see what people's reactions are. if they're all like "your fat" then maybe you should excercise and diet. my guess is you look fine though.
uh, yeah--you might be just about ready to become a fashion designer! I yam THIN--but I rarely think I'm NORMALSIZE--either too fat, or too 'weedy', or just too big in certain places--and they're never the RIGHT places! So, hopefuly, you'll get comfortable with what's a HEALTHY weight for you. [Good Luck!]
uh you might be ready to become a fashion designer--there's no way you could possibly keep up with their 'concept of normalsize for the attractive human.' I've been either too big [in inappropriate places]or too 'weedythin' all my life. I suggest you just concentrate on being HEALTHY, and start to feel comfortable in yer own skin. [And yes, I promise, even beauties look at themselves in the mirror and ask whoever's near--'does this make me look FAT?']
Being young is a VERY self conscious time. I felt that way a lot when I was a girl.
It's funny because young people don't realize how attractive they are just for their youthful appearance. As you get older you worry a lot less and feel more comfortable about yourself and who you are. It's cool.
I'm a very self-conscious 16 year old girl. I'd say feeling that way is completely normal, in this society at least [i.e. one with mirrors and extreme pressure from the media]. The thing to remember is that you're only young once. Everyone has a distorted perception of themselves in the moment, but one day, when we're old, and looking back at our memories, we'll realize that we didn't need to waste so much valuable time worrying about such self-absorbed issues.. You don't know what you've got until it's gone, so be kind to the miracle that is your body and realize that beauty is only skin deep [:
I'm a slim 19 year old guy and I feel my appearence varies greatly based on my diet. If I gain any weight it goes straight to the face and man boobs. It's possible I'm imagining it, but I'm pretty sure. My self-image varies wildly. I think it's fairly normal, though not so much for men. I feel a lot better about it when I keep up with personal exercise and eating right.
It's normal. I'm a guy and sometimes I feel like I could run game on anyone, and they'd be blind to turn me down. and other times i feel so down that I think I look terrible. It's one of the curses of america, where even celebrities arent as perfect as we want them
pretty normal. im 21 and I feel that way a lot! Self-confidence can go aloooong ways though. I know girls who are "fat" or "ugly" by hollywood standards and still have all the guys after them. Its because they have self-confidence and people can sense that. Just remeber this about yourself: you cant change your image without a change in eating habits and you cant get a belly tuck everytime youre getting/feeling a little chubby, so I say, enjoy the skin youre in. Unless some miracle plastic surgury is invented in the future, im never going to be charlise theron, and ive accepted that. You have to learn to accept your body and realise youre not a perfect person. I have hips and im curvy and my tits arent the best...so what? Try to focus on, in your opnion, the good parts of your body. Also, I noticed that a lot of girls have this varying image of themselves. If you talk to a girl, even a beautiful girl, she will think she sometimes feels ugly. I would take that into account when thinking about your own self- Everyone has insecurities about their bodies- even their personality seems like they think very highly of their looks. Youd be surprised that women like elizabeth taylor sometimes felt like they were never beautiful!
I have alot of female friends who are knockout gorgeous, but think they are fat and ugly. It's a mental thing. A self-image disorder. Don't worry about it!

For now - just enjoy being 20 and being young :)
