Ever since I was little I've always known I want to be an actress/singer. I got selected for a main part in the christmas production at my school. I'm worring like hell. I'm not nervous or anything. This boy, told me I'm going to get stage firght and crap it up. It's got into my head and I truly believe it now. I've go to know the play off by heart by next week. I only got the script 3 weeks ago. I feel so so drained and don;t like I'll be able to do the play. Although I don't have a choice, all my family are coming and expecting my best efforts. I don't know what to do. Is it normal to feel this way? Am I normal?
Do you think it's normal?

If you keep thinking you will get stage fight then you will. get that outta your head and concentrate on your dream
Use positive self-talk, instead of saying I'm going to get stage fright and crap it up. Say I will remember my lines, and my cues, and I will give an excellent performance. Do not say I'm not going to crap it up, that won't work, use positives only. If you don't worry about it too much you will be fine.
do what every good actor does
get drunk!
As you get more experience you will probably get over this and if its it what you really want to do then keep at it good luck. You may have to turn gay
so, what part did you get and how many lines do you have? im sure youll do just fine.
Thank you so much for your comments tehy've really helped. I'm almost as confident as david Walliams and ready to rock!! lol, maybe! :)
This is the silliest question ever.
''Am I normal''? - for what? Being nervous in this situation? You seriously came on here to ask other people this question?

Okay, I've been doing the same stuff my entire life. Singing/Acting/Dancing, principal roles in all. If this is important to you, then go study those lines and don't waste time posting online asking people this. I've worked with American Idol(CBS) and Rockstar(CBS), a professional travelling theatre company, and many independent films, musicals etc.(I'm not much older than you by the way, either) If this is what you want to do you need to stop right now, worrying about what that boy said. Hun, get that script out, and memorize your lines WITHOUT emotions FIRST(this is a key technique. If you memorize them with expressions, you WILL keep forgetting them because you will try to rehearse it the same way everytime, which isn't possible because you can't possibly do it the exact same way every time) Once you have them down, start adding emotion/expression. Pencil in one or two key words next to the paragraph as a reminder. Then once the director gives you your blocking(movement and where you stand during the scene) then you can add all of it. But the key thing is to memorize without emotion first, just to get them down. Then go through and add your spark.

I didn't mean to be hard on you but goodness! You don't have much time to get your head in the game - stay off the site and study those lines! Good luck sweatheart!
