Well heres my problem, it may sound kinda strange but bear with me. Any time I go out into the cold, even with gloves on, my hands freeze real easily! Thats normal right, well not so for me. When i go back inside where it is warm, my hands start to "thaw out" and i can feel them getting warm. But the weird thing is that sometimes certain fingers will actually puff out a little at the tops and become hard and puffy (and a little red). This sometimes happens if I touch those certain fingers a lot or even if water touches them! Does anybody know what might be happening? Does anybody else get this?

Is it normal?

Insulated, lined mittens will keep your hands warmer than gloves. You could also get some of those pocket warmer things . . .

Sounds normal to me. I have to be outside for my job, and I get the same feeling.

Might be a circulation problem. Do you wear tight sleeves? Go with the mittens. They're your best bet. And don't wear gloves that have tight wrist-cuffs. That's not good on your blood-flow.

yeah it's normal-ish as in within the range of human existence. it happens to me but not with the puffy red fingertips. you just have poor circulation in your extremities. you aren't dying.

This is real.
It's a circulation problem and has a name.
My aunt has it, her fingers turn blue.
Go see a doctor and he will tell you all about it probally.

IT is called poor circulation and it can also be this, raynauds syndrome. Go to to look it up. go to www.medlineplus.gov

It might be Reynaud's syndrome....if it is, it is not deadly or anything. It could be a circulation problem which can mean a heart problem in some cases though, so go see your doctor just to get it checked out. I may have spelled the syndrome name wrong. My uncle has it. See your doctor.

You might have poor circulation, my friend, and my sister do too, my sisters hands get freezing easily too, i don't know about the puffiness thing though. You might want to get it checked out though, that would be a wise choice, it is better to check something early where (if needed) it is easily fixed, or to know that something you thought might be dangerous, isn't anything to be worried about!

In the cold your guts put a claim on your blood painfully depriving your extremities. A bit like turning white with anger. It's normal -- your body just does it more efficiently than some.

Move to Florida.

Trust me, it's painful but it works:

Go further north. That's right. I said further north.
And don't go in the summer-the arctic being really cold year-round is a myth. Take a winter-long "vacation" near a town an see the polar bears. Go in October, and stay until March. When you get back home, and stay home on the next winter, you'll be more adapted to the cold and as a bonus thinking: "This is nothing. I'm not even gonna wear a jacket."

It's pretty pernament:)

You probably have an allergy to the cold. I have this same thing to! You just have to keep your skin warm. It is called cold urticaria if you wanna look it up.

what a lovely contribution you have added - congratulations dumb ass.

now m8, you have a medical condition, probs renolds or something similar, i get really bad cold hands and feet, feet more often, they can get so cold, and because i am used to it i dont feel it - however if someone touches my hands / feet they cant belive how cold they are - personally i dont mind it (although my girlfriend doesnt like cold hands and i have to warm them up 1st) but they dont feel as cold to me, and when they do feel cold (because it is freezing) it isn't as bad as it should be.

i suggest that u either see a doctor or move to a warmer state (or country, depends where u live) i suggest Florida, or somewhere with a desert
Comment Hidden (show)
idk but i think you just described what my mom has
Comment Hidden (show)
i live in a very cold place and thats the norm after it gets -10 f (about a month a year), so my guess is either u live somewhere even colder or ur a bit underweight with poor cirualtoin
