...that my dog is terrified of his own shadow...literally

No. This is not just a figure of speech. My dog is LITERALLY terrified of his shadow. He is about a year-old now and when he was ~ 3 months old he first saw his on shadow on the floor. He proceeded to try to catch his shadow...biting and licking the floor...and getting frustrated that his shadow disappeared as soon as he moved towards it. He did the same thing with reflected light. At first it was extremely cute and funny, but now its gotten ridiculous. He's ok during the daylight, but literally spends about 90% of his evening hours chasing his shadow and/or lights reflected from everything shiny that I own. I am convinced it is not a fun game for him. He has located a few places in the house where he knows shadows or light reflections usually appear. As soon as the sun goes down and the indoor lights come on, he gravitates to those spots, prances around nervously, licks and bites the floor, and whines and whimpers. Its neverending...he does this ALL THE TIME, EVERY DAY. The constant whimpering drives me nuts! I have resorted to sitting in darkness and avoiding getting out my cell phone, aluminum foil, or opening the refrigerator door when he is around because I know he will freak out when he sees light reflected from them. He's a really sweet dog, but I think he has some serious mental issues. Has anyone else every experienced this with their pets???

our puppy did this quite a lot, but we gave him a lot of attention 24/7 and that seemed to help him quite a lot. he used to sit in the corner staring at his shadow for hours poor thing! but, yea he'll probably grow out of it with plenty of attention.

When we took my dog to training, the owner of the school had a rotty that played with his showdows. He told us that they adopted the dog from owners who uses to play with laser pointers. I would recomend talking to a trainer.
