(girls) when did you get your first period?

I talked to my doctor when I hadn't gotten one by 17, and it turned out I had a tumor on the pituitary gland in my brain that was blocking my hormones.

I had it checked further and it was benign (thank God!) My doctor referred me to a specialist and the tumor was removed about a month later.

I still don't get periods.

I was 11 and it was Thanksgiving...I did not give thanks for that...

It was literally 2 days after my 14th bday. It was horrible then, and ten years on it's just as bad :(

Can't believe girls actually want to start.

I got mine in sixth grade. I was 11 years old. I remember being amazed that it was possible for me to have a kid. Some girls dread their periods, but I was really excited... not so much anymore. :P

I'm a male and I had a period.

It came through my penis, I thought it was a cycle (not really a cycle, more like a sickness), and when I went to the doctor he told me I have partial hermaphroditis or something like that. I have periods here and there, I try to ignore it though.

I didn't know that girls can have them when they are under 10 years of age =P

The last day of school, 5th grade

i was 10. first of my friends to get it & i got a lot of shit for it lmao

I got it when I was in 4th grade. LOL it was all this brownish looking stuff on my panties and I was like "o.O the fuck is this!? I didn't poop in my pants!?" I came home later that day and my mom told me what had happened and I was like "! :O" Later that week I started crying because I remember these two boys started laughing when my pad fell out of my pocket! So embarrassing. I guess you could say it was normal because I already had breast when I was in the 3rd grade.

I was 11 and wearing white pants of course...last time i ever wore white pants. I was extremely embarrassed b/c that night at church (wed night) my mom told all of her friends i had "become a woman" and they all congratulated me. I wanted to die.

I got mine at 13... all my friends had got it before me and I felt out of the loop or something they were telling me that getting ur period makes you a women and that I'm not a women yet but it will happen soon. I got my period the December 13th I remember because it was my last day of school before christmas break and my grade went to see 'the boy in the striped pajamas'. I got in the morning I was so excited! Because I was like 'Yay now I'm a women!' so my mom had to run out and get me some pads. When I got to school and told my friends they flipped! But as the day went on I realized it wasn't what I was expecting at all!! Mine was very heavy that day and my mom only got me the thin ones and it leaked through and I was embarressed and I only owned one pair of black pants then and we couldn't find them in the morning it was SO embarressing! And it hurt so bad I couldn't even enjoy the movie! Then we were traveling to my grandparents the next day and I got blood on the seat so I had to put a towl down I was in so much pain! Nothing like what I was expecting.... total dissapointment.

I got mine when I was 9

When I was 11; I remember I got it when I was at home, thank god. When my mom found out, she was pretty vague about the whole situation and just told me I got my first period, told me to use a pad and that's the end of that story.

the day before my 12th birthday. terrible cramps on the first day, not bad on the second. just some bloating. :(

6th grade on the last week of school....I cried so hard wen I told my mum I was so scarred even though I knew what was happening.

I was 14, and all my friends already had theirs. It was durring and I thought "well I guess i finally happened", and I walked across the street to walmart to buy some tampons.
I went through puberty kind of weird. It was really drawn out. In grade 6, I got boobs, 14, period, grade 9, my voice changed a little.
Though I guess it would be alot easier than having it all in one summer

12, On Christmas day....-_-

I got mine when i was eight years turning nine. i had JUST finished my chiken pox so i thought i was dying or something. i just remember freaking out because i was bleeding from there. i think it is from all the hormones they pout it food nowadays and even back then.

i got my period when i was 8-9 years old (i dont really remember) i thought i was going to die becuase nobody told me about this lol

Wow i got mine 9 years ago on the very first day of the sixth grade. That was shitty, lol but at least I was in the bathroom when it happened. I freaked out because I didn't know what the hell was wrong with me. It was just me, my dad, and my brother so I had no clue about getting your period.

11 while doing laps on the school field .. i was shocked that im bleeding and basically got tramatized for life by the whole experience @_@:)

Im suprized how many girls said 17+ , i've never heard of someone getting it that late ... strange

i got mine on christmas eve in 5th grade..it sucked cuz we were in a restraurant and nobody had anything for me to use :/

It was during a field trip and I was around 11-12, it was terrible. I thought I had took a dump in my pants or something because the lighting made the blood look brown. I forget about what happened but I know, despite not knowing what the hell was happening, I had a fun day making paper mache volcanos erupt.

I started when I was 12 the morning I went to school, and I got my ears pierced that very day too.. so I always remember that day..... bc my dad sed I should be bleeding out of both ends if I got my ears done, so why not he sed. LOL that was the reason though, and then it hit me like a few periods after or something that I could get pregnant and have a child of my own ! O.o
