is it normal that i'm turned on by blood and gore in horror movies?

I am a avid horror fan who recently discovered that blood and gore turns me on when I watch horror films. This discovery made me feel empowered, and animalistic as if an ancestral human instinct was compelling me to feel this way...basically, it made me feel unique.

I pondered on the thought some more and then came to the conclusion that maybe I'm just a sick weirdo. I am completely normal though. Real dead bodies do nothing in the slightest for me, and I even cringe when I see a real gruesome crime scene.

I asked a friend (who also likes horror) if this was "normal" and he said yes (it arouses him too), and that people who are aroused by these things are called necrophiliacs.

I don't want to associate myself with people who have a sick perverted love for dead bodies because that isn't true. Real dead people don't turn me on. Only the ones on screen do (I guess).

I then came to the conclusion that maybe all avid horror lovers share this same trait. I'm not into cutting myself for pleasure or anything so this is extremely odd to me.

Is this taboo normal or weird. I'd like to know all of your opinions. Thank you.

I'm not sure. 146

The Human Centipede II must have been pretty hardcore for you.

Haha you would think so but surprisingly it didn't do anything for me.

In almost all circumstances it couldn't do less for me, but I still think it's normal to feel as you do. I'd find it a lot less comfortable if you liked the real thing. Simulated violence is appealing to a lot of people, so why not for you for sexual reasons?

I can relate to this too. But i think people like us get aroused from the fantasy of it all, not the reality.

Dunno how I should tell ya. Say, I started watching crime TV series at 8 with me mum and was pretty into scenes like cannibalism and dismemberment.(Censorship? No, not where I live..) Sometimes just get horny on seeing guts and torn-off human body parts. I recently played Resident Evil 2 Remake and had to say I was turned on watching a living human getting half eaten(wont tell ya who, no spoiler) And I could point out the scene was not realistic since the victim died too soon(which in fact, sweetheart, should take much longer).
But I assume myself a pretty normal gal. I took a anatomy class in highschool n the theme was like anatomizing a carp and a pig eye. And unsurprisingly I was the only one in the group to lay hands on those stuff(while others look away and screaming). And they said I looked cool LOL. Well that's the upside cuz I admit I got a bit tendency for violence, but I think it doesn't matter anyway if you don't offend others. My little story above, hope it'll help.

I'm the exact same way dude. Except I probably get way more turned on than I actually should...

    Miss EveVille.

The tingly sensation you described sounds like a groinal response, which is common with people with sexual regimes of obsessive compulsive disorder. I get intrusive thoughts of stabbing, slitting people's throats, decapitation and sometimes I get a groinal response (I have OCD). My therapist says I'm okay and that they are just thoughts.

Many of my sexual fantasy's were deprived from horror movies. You are probably a bit of a sadist or a masochist. Look up S&M its actually very common.

I can sort of say the same thing. Wouldn't masturbate to it, but I do have a lust for blood and guts.

You're friend is wrong though. People who are aroused by it aren't necrophiliacs, or at least not always. A necrophiliac is someone who wants to have sex with dead bodies, and that's pretty much it. A love for blood and guts, could be a blood fetish, sadism, something along those lines but not always necrophilia.

I don't see the fascination with that sort of thing, but being exposed to the real thing when I was in my late teens may be the reason.
There's nothing even slightly pleasant about seeing someone hacked to death with a machete, in real life.

I can sort of relate, although I'm not aroused by gore I have noticed that I can sometimes get an erection when I play violent games such as Grand Theft Auto, but I don't know why.
