is it normal that my cat sits on my shoulder when we go on walks?

my kitty is about four months old, and I am training her to use a harness and go on walks with me so I can drain some energy from her. as soon as we get outside, she climbs up my pant leg, wanting me to pick her up. when she is in my arms, she starts purring and climbs up my shirt and onto my shoulder, where she purrs heavily, and eventually falls asleep. even while I am walking lol. this is an everyday occurrence when we go for walks.

    My cat saw a Jimmy Buffet album cover with a parrot on his shoulder and ever after she rode on my shoulder whenever we traveled. And we traveled a lot; Fla to Ak by road twice, flew to Cal from Fla 6 times and overseas to boat jobs dozens of times. Walking through an airport with a cat on your shoulder can bring lots of attention, especially from the girls. Whatever works.....

    It's more uncommon than normal, I'd say.
    I had an outdoor cat that loved to sit on my shoulders. I used to call her my parrot in disguise. :) I also had a kitten that loved to lay in the hoodie part of my jacket. I'd walk everywhere with him in my hoodie. Everyone thought it was cute.
