A monkey as a pet?

I watched lots of animal videos including ones on monkeys.
Are monkeys ever calm or happy? They seem nervous and scared all the time like they are never relaxed. I feel sorry for them.
I think some people would like monkeys except that a scared monkey might bite them.
What do you know about them?

You don't like monkeys 5

Trying to make a monkey of any species a pet is a terrible idea. First, primates are all social animals, so it's cruel to deprive them of the constant interaction with others of their species which they instinctively crave.

Others have mentioned how chimpanzees commonly become violent - often viciously so - and unpredictable once they grow out of their cute, furry almost-human-kid stage. The chimp is simply behaving in a way that comes naturally to it, and it's delusional to believe that being treated like a member of a human family for a few years will be enough to civilise an animal whose behaviour has been shaped by millions of years of evolution to ensure its personal survival and maximise the possibility of it passing on its genes.

idk why anyone would want a monkey as a pet, they're extremely violent especially the bigger ones like chimpanzee's and bonobo's. it also doesn't take much to piss them off, they can fly into a rage and throw a tantrum like a toddler but instead it's a toddler that's capable of literally ripping your arms/legs off and biting your entire face apart.

i feel like they're also too intelligent to 'own' as a pet, they're very good escape artists and it'd probably be really annoying and exhausting to keep a monkey as a pet with how capable they are of messing around and fucking shit up, sometimes just for fun they don't gotta have a reason.

Assuming you're speaking about chimpanzees, the most common pet monkey...no. I wouldn't. A bite would be the least of my worries, however.

Chimpanzees can be "trained" to be docile but it's often true that they eventually attack their owner/handler. Chimps have far more strength than humans. If one happens to have a bad day and lash out, there's very little you can do to stop one from tearing you apart.

I heard a case of a woman's chimpanzee attacking her friend.

      It left her disfigured.

Out of all the apes/monkeys, chimpanzees are by far the worst ones to have as pets. They're easily the most violent (they're one of the few handful of animals to not only kill for shits & giggles, they also go to literal war with others of their own species) & have enough strength to literally rip your dick & balls off (it's a staple of theirs actually, they've done it many times to unfortunate victims both humans & champs alike).

Why do I still think baboons are more brutal?

In terms of pure viciousness yes (the shit they have on video of them doing to other animals is nothing less than demonic), but unlike champs I don't think there's any records of them literally hunting other baboons just to kill them for nothing more than boredom/hatred. They'll fight with each other over food, territory, mating rights & self-defense sure but they won't purposely go into another baboon's territory just to kill a baboon out of pure malice like chimps do with other chimps (they'll literally walk in single file lines & be as quiet as possible so they won't alert the other chimps before they jump them like a gaggle of Hitmen). Plus chimps are much smarter being able to pick locks & craft tools out of scrap.

Yeah, that's why I don't get how someone with a chimpanzee doesn't sleep with one eye open.

Chimpanzees are the equivalent to a psychopath.

I think keeping animals that are so intelligent in captivity is sick. Across the board. Humans should mind their fucking business.

I would never consider petting one. They give me the creeps.

How would you feel being handled by really big, weird looking, hairless, god-like versions of yourself? I would bite them just to see if they bleed.

I dont like monkeys because they are animals that people think just because they look like us that they are harmless. When they can easily rip your face off.

At least with another animal the threat is more pronounced: teeth, claws, predatory instinct. Monkeys? Oh just have him wear a fez and he is just like people. But when theu rip off fingers do people remember they are animals designed to grip and have the strength to pull themselves out of danger.
