Agnostocism gave rise to sudden conservative views,?????

This is weird
Very Very Weird

Recently ieve gone from being a lukewarm Christian to being a pretty much fullblown agnostic, ive been a dual believer in science and religion since I was little, and the recent intelectuall explosion I had near the end of highschool and the beginning of university has led me to shed my religious beliefs more or less entirely

But all of a sudden something else in me has changed . . .
The idea that there is no formal law giver to the universe has made me strive to be more moral, because ive realized that us humans are in the end ultimately responsible for the fate of our societies and the world, thus my habit of not drinking much and trying to avoid casual sexual relationships has become a concrete moral guideline in my mind, as has the idea that we should strive to preserve our cultures and environment, its like my lack of faith inspires me to do more now, to care more for people, to make a larger contribution, because in the end this is all we can truthfully say we have IIN?

It is not Agnosticism if you believe that there is no god-like figure who created the universe. What it is is Atheism.

It's great that you want to improve on your moral fibre.

It's not at all weird. Christianity is a dogmatic, monotheistic religion. The 'believer' has to follow a moral code because God says so. It subtly takes away control and responsibility, ultimately turning its followers into unthinking drones. What you have done is throw off the chains and take personal responsibility for yourself, your actions and your environment. You should always act with compassion and perform altruistic deeds. Stop and look. We are all going to die, its the only certainty in life. As unpalatable and harsh as that is, It's absolute truth. When you fully comprehend this, and your own mortality, it will make you see the world very differently. If we are all, ALL, subject to this fate, why are we not kinder to each other? We are all in the same boat, literally. In western societies we have consumerism, celebrities, fashion, football, the net, wealth, whatever. Non of these things can spare us from our fate, they are used to distract us. So we don't have to think about it. Shhhh don't talk about death, we mustn't mention him. What's weird really is that death is ever present, and we choose to ignore him. If you want to live your life being nice to people and helping where you can, do it because it's the right thing to do. Not because some Deity requires it in order that you can sit at his table.
    The 8 fold path beckons you . . . . . .

I wish more people would take this idea from not believing in god. People often take the idea that there is or isn't god to be a shithead. Its really very annoying. Believing or not believing does not make you magically superior.
