Airline lost my best friend's grandma's luggage

I won't say what airlines but we put 2 luggage trackers in her luggage too. When she got back home from visiting her other grandkids, she waited for the luggage to come out but nothing was there. She waited hours and nothing. So she told someone there and called us. We told her to look at the trackers apps she then screenshot it and showed us both trackers showed her luggage was in the airport.

She showed the guy helping her who worked there and he tried to get in contact with a few more people. They had her wait and nothing. A young guy in his 20s was also trying to help her because he also couldn't find his luggage and he didn't have any trackers but he did see it showing her luggage was in the airport on both her tracker apps. The airlines said it must be lost and that's it.

It's been two weeks now and nothing. She had really sentimental items in there along with a gift her grandkids saved up to buy her. No idea what happened or why the people working there couldn't just follow the tracker to the room it showed it was in. Is it normal?

Why do not want to name the airline? I'd actually appreciate knowing who to avoid in the future

It's not by airline. It's by luggage carriers that work for the entire airport.

I think each luggage carrier works for only one airline no?

How does multiple connecting flights work then? They want to get a baggage from A to C but in flight B was delayed. But theres room on a A to C with a different airline. Baggage is baggage its destination comes first not the airline since it's in the airlines best interest to have its customers happy.

Thus baggage is baggage your choice airline is just variety in airplane, the people who handle your suitcase arent included in that variety.

Also gates change, so do you want people shifting place to place with baggage or just treat them all the same?

It happens. Millions of baggage goes through the system. I'm astonished it doesnt happen more.

It sucks that there was sentimental value in said items. Sorry buddy.

The Airline baggage handling companies do usually eventually figure it out and get the baggage delivered. I had my luggage delivered 3 weeks after it arrived in my local airport once. It had been shipped on another aircraft than I was on...
