Whenever i see a old women outside they are always scared of me, i asked a old women yesterday for a ciggarette and she didnt answer and was really scared like i was gonna rob her or something.
She just backed away from me and had this scared look on her face, and she quickly walked away to the other direction.
Bumming smokes from strangers on the street makes you (....brace yourself for a moment of revelation.....) a street-bum.
Dear Mr. Street-Bum - older people have good life experience that teaches to keep one's distance from people who are sketchy, creepy or iffy and who are not too far from the gutter. Try not to take it too personally.
I don't want to be stereotypical but most people that go around and ask random people for cigarettes are not always stand up people, and most older people are presumptuous and cautious and they have good reasons to be. Also if you live in an area with high crime and violence it will make it even more likely that older people would do that because they're careful. Since most people that ask others they don't know for things are more times than often, addicted to drugs, unstable, and unpredictable. The only thing that I can think of is that your appearance would top off that fear.
It happens. Some old people are simply scared of anyone who could easily injure them on a whim, and that's every kid above the age of 5. Plus there is a lot of public attention on violence against the elderly and such.
Huh. Weird. I have five facial piercings, but old people seem to really like me for the most part.
