Am i the only one who's seen this?

I grew up in a suburban area. The largest city in my state has under half a million people. There's not really much of a rap, hip-hop, or metal scene to speak of. Despite this, when I was growing up I noticed that as soon as one of my male friends became a teenager, they started almost exclusively listening to mumble rap and death metal. Even the friends who admitted they don't like the genres would still nearly blow out their car speakers playing the music any time we went somewhere

There's nothing wrong with liking or disliking those genres. It was just weird because it was only my male friends and it usually began almost immediately after they got their driver's license
