Am i the only one who wonders why....

Do you ever stop to wonder why god created us? What was his mindset before creating?

Was he bored?

Was he lonely?

Did he want attention or praise?

How could he, he is perfect. If he is perfect he needs nothing. Nothing.

So why did he feel a NEED to create humans?

story poster, i have your answer. he wanted to share the gift of simply existing, the gift of self-awareness, the gift of life and all the pleasures that it obviously brings. He wants our praise because after creating life and the gloriusly beautiful earth that supports it, he deserves it. not out of conceit but because he's worthy. if He didn't create us we wouldn't be here to enjoy all that we do. he did it out of love. just love because that is all he is. it was a selfless act of love to share what it means to simply live. to draw breath, walk, run, eat, drink, create, love, and bring more beautiful life into the world. He was sharing life. wonderful life. aren't you happy to be alive despite it's woes? i've been thru all kinds of crap. depression, suicide attempts, but i'm still here for some reason and i'm now happy to be here and alive. i wouldn't trade it for anything. i'm HAPPY TO BE ALIVE and that's why God created us: to be happy. i'm setting up questions here and i know it. i'll be happy to answer them.

I agree with previous poster but I think that the consciousness call "god" divided it self so that there could be TWO beings, one being the OBJECT OF OBSERVATION for the other. And consciousness started being divided into smaller ones until we came to existence. Ok I have simplified it a lot here.

This is something I have been mulling over for a great while, and so far, this is the conclusion I came to.

First to address evolution. If evolution were truly how things happened, we would not be anything like we are physically. Think about it, evolution is that adaptation of a specie to its environment. What environment was so comfortable that we had to become soft on the outside and so easy to crush, spindle or mutilate? Did we spend a section of history that is hidden to scientists in a pillow-coated utopia? And whats with this two legs- no prehensile tail? Absolutely an evolutionary NO-NO if we want to be quickly mobile. No other mammal takes as long to learn to function. If evolution built us, it did a worse job than with the dodo or the duck-billed platypus...... our physical structure makes NO sense from an evolutionary standpoint. And before you say that evolution allowed us to get that way based on our intelligence......... we were pretty much physically where we are before we discovered fire or organized hunting, so what gives?

I think this makes a credible argument for creationism.

As far as why we were created, I believe it was so god has someone to share his glory with. Children that he can teach and watch grow. I think our lives here are supposed to be a reflection of our relationship with god ( I use god without the capital letter, because I am not a christian, so it doesn't get the same inflection, god is what the entity is, not its name.).

my 2 cents on an ever interesting topic

I can't believe people still read that stupid "Bible". They refer to "God" as "He". OK, if God is male, how do you know that? Does he have a penis? If so, why? There must be a female God if God is male. God is supposed to have created Adam, a male. Why? It was not till Adam complained about being lonely did God create Eve out of his rib. Why did God make a creature with reproductive organs if he didn't intend to give him a mate? Why would he be so short sided as to have created a man and not a woman at the same time. He should have known Adam needed a partner. Dude. The book is just silly. Why are you afraid to question it?

before I start, this is a hot topic debated for centuries, no one can answer for certain.

for me, my faith lies in science, that in an infinite universe like ours before our time, there probably was something and in infinite time one superior event happened, teh bang ov biggness. many people may argue, "well look at the complexity of the human body, that cant be chance!" but think... there was that chance. if we had 5 legs and eyes on our fingers, people would say the same, because that's the way we've always been. but from infinite chance all is possible, including this greater being of god.

    Don't think about the reason.
Just be happy (as much as you can anyway) that you're here.

I used to think about this a lot a while ago. Well, not the way you do - more along the lines of the purpose of things than "was God bored etc."

Now, I find the idea of a human-like God (whether he or she ;P) preposterous (no offense intended. This is my personal viewpoint.) I mean, we are such tiny, tiny, insignificant creatures on an absolutely microscopic lump of rock and water. Whatever God is is beyond us. All we can percieve is what our status as homo sapiens allows us to. We are limited beings.

Since nothing can't exist, there had to be something. Something like that anyway.

Oh yeah, and you're definitely normal for thinking about this ;)

the world was created to be perfect, and it isn't because the forbidden fruit was eaten by adam and eve ( which actually means they fucked before they wore commanded to do so)
and they wore thrown out of edens garden which was supposed to be where we wore all supposed to live in, and that's how we wore placed in this fucked up world, theres no paradox or shit like that this is biblical, if you don't believe in the bible (which I actually believe very little in) then you can believe whatever the fuck you feel like believing, every mind is a different world.
and by the way you are not the only one that wonders why, so don't feel special, you are just one more that does not know answers to something everyone has a different belief about.

Well, on the off chance that god does exist, is all knowing, he can tell the future, and all powerful, he can do watever he wants, whenever he wants, and never wrong, watever he predicts WILL come true, so he saw into the future and saw that man was to be created by him, he was then forced to create man, which then means he had no power to stop it, which means he is not all powerful, which then means he can not exist in the way that the bible shows him.

So creating man was because he had no choice in the matter, he knew when man was to be created and had no power to stop it, which actually means he has no power at all, he is a slave to himself, unable to control what he does because he knows the precise time he will do something and he has to be correct so he can NEVER change it. He can not control anything as it MUST come about, so whatever we do on this earth is already decided, which means we can not change what we do, which means we have 0 free will, which then means we are just slaves to god who is a slave to himself, and if we commit a crime its because of god, if we go to hell, we had no choice ever on earth. Does that sound like a very good religion to you?

So that was me just explaining the paradox's while hoping I lost a few retards along the way.

Of course there could be no god, or even an imperfect god. Though I believe in no god

I don't know in which cartoon you heard this but actually God is the one that creates the future, or maybe we are talking about 2 different Gods (im talking about the catholic God which if we are talking about the same one you are completely wrong on everything you posted) and your god is the same that crimson_mamba believes in that comes in his pimped out u.f.o. every couple of thousand years.

The christian god is omnipotent, omniscient and all knowing. and thats the whole thing the paradox is from. My old priest (catholic) preached about how god is all-knowing, all-powerful and can never be wrong. That paradox uses the definition of the catholic god. I excluded omnipresent from it though as that was not part of the paradox and if you know everything do you really need to be there? you already know the exact details of what happens.

I haven't actually heard that forbidden fruit bit. I was told, by my catholic school, the church, and when we were doing Christianity in religious education, that the forbidden fruit is in fact a fruit, though what fruit it was was never described, it just stated "A fruit" many people believe it to be an apple but it never said that anywhere. Besides fucking is not the worst thing that could ever happen, if it was so bad then God wouldn't even give humans reproductive organs until they were permitted to use them.

    I say bored.

Can you imagine what nothingness is like? No time; no anything at all? No? Didn't think so. Well that's all God had for a long while.

I can't blame him for creating stuff. I've done pretty crazy things when bored myself.

He's starting to get a bit bored of us now, so watch out.

I can't be totally sure of this answer though. When I tried asking Him, he just told me to fuck off.

I feel this is completely normal for I find myself asking the same thing... I've often wondered why He decided to make us.. I mean, He knew from the beginning that Eve would sin and that He would have to punish us.. so why do it?
Even though it hurts my head to actually sit and think of the magnificence of God, and how He has no beginning and no end.. I absolutely LOVE to read Genesis.. I read it all the time.. I'm even gonna get a tattoo that I designed that has Genesis 1:3 =)

God is so amazing and it's so sad to see people that hate Him so much.. especially when He still loves them unconditionally.. they have no clue how much He loves them... but it's assuring to know that there will be a day that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is God. What a glorious day that will be!

Thanks for the post! Love being able to talk about my God =)

I think everyone wonders about those things, it's only natural to. I think people get too serious about it sometimes. We'll all end up finding out what's true in the end, why waste time arguing about something you know nothing about. No one even knows if there is a God, what religion is right if one actually is or anything like that, so why get all puffed up and tell others their views are wrong when neither of you know what you're talking about overall. The bible is just a book, get over it people.

This is why Christianity is a pile of sod.
A truly omniscient, perfect God would not have any emotions whatsoever. Even if he did, they would be nothing like the emotions that we have - he's /everything/, and we're run on a few pounds of sparking flesh in our skulls. Emotions may lead to happiness, but they also undoubtedly lead in imperfection no matter which way you look.

So God would never have any drive to do anything.
He would sit there doing nothing because he has the power to do everything, yet no purpose. He would be able to create and destroy a thousand planets in an instant, but he would get no enjoyment from doing so, nor would he do it to make his creations happy, as he does not have pity or love.
    There would be no reason.
The only reason God would create us is if he were flawed.
And that sort of screws your entire religion, guys.

Jeezus. Alright, all you Christians, think about this. You say God is Love, but why did he create anger, fear, hate, sin, etc? He created Satan, he created the flawed human beings out there, he created diseases, disasters, etc. If he is real, he is one a**hole. And...The people saying to thank God because he saved somebody from something or whatever, think about this. God made the situation in the first place. Pray to god to save you from a hurricane, and you are missing the point that he made the hurricane in the first place. I do not believe in God, my standing is that since the universe is infinite, it at some point would have made us. So. Think about it.

    • Ok.. what if all religion is a pile of sod. What if science (as it now is a religion in itself) is a pile of sod. What does that make us? People who externalise blame and believe in things just because some stupid theory says it's true. The Greeks believed that the sun was the centre of the universe... and now according to science that's completely wrong. Theoretical science can be used to disprove everything, just as religious dogma is used to justify almost anything.

To both Ragnar and Anon146, humanity constructs religions and sciences to give us a reason to live. That's it. Because of both we can live in hope of something greater than ourselves... so basically, if people want to believe in a Monotheistic or Polytheistic cult, or a cult of knowledge for knowledge's own sake, then so be it. If it helps them to live out their lives relatively peacefully, why should you two even care?

If you take away religion and science, humanity would just find other ways to amuse itself. In actual fact we already have. It's called "politics". If you take away all the things that keep us from thinking about the inevitable, what are you left with? Just one thing to expect, whether its benevolent or not. To use a religious term, humanity would be living under "the shadow of death". That's enough to make anyone's head spin.

Let me clear up something: the question always comes up, "If God is so perfect, why did he create Satan?" and etc. Before you go and criticise a christian, or anyone of belief for that matter, with that question or one similar to it, ask yourself this: despite science uncovering the growing dangers of just living in this world, why is it that you so desperately cling to life?

And not to be biased, to you religious people, before you try and convert a person of science or just someone who doesn't know or care about what they believe in, ask yourself this: does not your faith teach you to accept and love all people as they are?

Ok. I'm done rambling now :)

(And again, not religious in any way shape or form. Just thought I'd put that in here to stop myself from being completely flamed).

the answer to the meaning of life? let me provide an example first. let's say you had the power to create life. human life. you gave the humans free will. you gave them a beautiful planet to live on and all the skills and materials they needed to provide for themselves. you endowed them with beautiful emotions to experience like love, generosity, compassion, etc. and all you would expect from them is deep gratitude and obedience with love as a foundation. after all, you are the reason they exist. logical loving and grateful humans would naturally do so. in essence that would be the TRUE MEANING of their existence. for without you creating them they would not be. but as we are the product of Jehovah God's love and generosity through the gift of sharing the gift of life, then that would the meaning of life, our obligation in life, as King Solomon put it. simply to serve our loving Creator loyally for having created us. true, the world we live in is most wicked, criminal on so many levels, the reason being, so many want to know, is that God is allowing humans to try and live without him and still be happy. to create every sort of faith and government to see if they will meet our needs. of course, none ever will but one, the kingdom of Jehovah, in the Lord's prayer, remember? he's also allowing enough time in our present system of things for those who really want to learn the truth, to do so. satan wants us to live independently of God. of course God gave us that option. but what has been proven so many times: no rest/peace for the wicked. living in opposition to the one who made us can only bring heartache and dissatisfaction. and false Christianity is of no value either. why do you think Jehovah's Witnesses come to your door? for the same reason Jesus taught and commanded the apostles to do so. that is, to undo the lies told by the false teachers of their day. satan's goal is still active. which is to ruin mankind's relationship with their Creator through lies from demonized evangelists who have made a mockery of God and his ways by teaching so-called Christians to say the Scriptural thing and do the un-Scriptural thing. hypocrites. the very ones Jehovah does not acknowledge. also, satan is using the media to brainwash people into believing they can live happily with material things and nothing else. but truthfully, the only way one can be content on this earth and know and live the meaning of life is having a deep knowledge of their Creator and what he has in store for them and the earth.

Okay, who's to say God is real or he isn't?
Guys, insulting the confused person's faith doesn't really solve their question, now does it? Let them decide what to believe.

In the mean time, to the person that posted this question in the first place, the only person who can give you your answer is YOU. We can't tell you, because we don't know either... the question of why some God made us is akin to trying to find the meaning of life: the reason varies for everyone. Talk to your Padre, not the people on here.

RiceBunny, hey. to answer your question. when a person dies they do exactly that. from dust we were created and to dust we return. when the heart stops beating and our brain shuts down we enter the state of profound unconsciousness. "no thought or devising". (the ability to think, invent, contrive, etc) Jehovah's description of death in Ecclesiastes. dead is dead. all good people don't go to heaven as the clegy would have you believe. their is no immortal soul. no matter the translation, in every Bible it says plainly in Genesis that when Jehovah put the breath of life into Adam,"he CAME TO BE a living soul." not that he was given one. there would not be a need for such since God said that "he didn't create the earth simply for nothing but that it should be inhabited." which means he didn't create us to ever die. That is satan, Adam and Eve's fault that we die. if they had all obeyed we wouldn't be in the conditions we are now. we'd live in a world-wide paradise still. so since we weren't meant to die there's no need for an immortal soul. death was never meant to be. also with there being a future resurrection of the dead, if we had a soul then would you want to leave heaven to come back to earth? not fair, right? But then, Jehovah has all the help he needs from the spirit sons he created for that purpose. the only humans that will ever go to heaven will be 144,000. men and women chosen from all over the earth who will become Christ's "bride". their collective knowledge of the human experience will enlighten Jesus on that very thing. Christ did create humans by Jehovah's direction but he was still a 33 1/2 year old male. there's so much he never experienced. and though he is a God, he hasn't chosen to simply imagine what males and females could ever possibly experience in a life time. he's seen all our joys and woes too. but Jehovah saw fit to invite certain ones to heaven to teach Jesus these things so that during the 1000 year reign of Christ's Kingdom, he might be able to show us even more compassion, understand, and blessings. does this make sense? it certainly does to me. "the righteous themselves will possess the earth and they will live forever upon it." so then, what need would there ever be for an afterlife since we were never created to die in the first place?

the wonderful thing about the Bible is that there is so much proof that Jehovah IS real. in it he explains EVERYTHING. all we need to know about where we came from and where we are going. why the world is so violent. why he allows the violence. false christian religions (christendom) has failed miserably to tell people the true meaning of God and life. i can explain all these things and logically. but when one thinks they know it all the ability to learn any more is impossible. with my knowledge of the Scriptures i don't fear anything, not even death. i know what the outcome of this world will SOON be. i don't know everything of course. i learn what God needs me to know when the times call for new information, as the world scene changes. but i know the answers to all the big questions every human being has ever asked about life on this earth and our Creator. i feel sorry for those who are living in fear and confusion over these things. i'm not fanatical. i'm scripturally educated. i'm at total peace because of what i know. and tho you're casually curious, you're nonetheless curious. my previous comment is the total truth. of course, i can provide texts for people to look up. btw folks, good news-THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A BURNING HELL. i have an article ready if anyone wants to know the truth.

i totally think about this all the time man...like i don't think its fair because if he wanted more praise he would make more beings up there to give it to him...but then creating us, he would only get praise from some of us...even tho that praise would be worth more to Him because we have a choice in doing it...but then the people who don't get the whole story about Him and just hear the crap about the religion and don't give it a chance, they get damned to hell because they didn't give God the praise that they didn't know He deserved....its weird man...hahaha i like you

I'm surprised about all this confusion in some people's posts here..

One thing I can tell you.. A lot of people wonder why we were even created from the start.. So, It's totally normal. You have to wonder about the things around you and this life.. We're not living in Shells after all. And this whole universe is worth exploring.

I even used to think about it with a friend.. till we found the answer; Looking at this life as a game.. but it's serious cause you define what role you want to play that will also define how the game ends. And here it goes, God created us to Worship him. Whomsoever Allah guides,(In form that you obey the rules according to your religion) cannot be led astray and whomsoever Allah misguides, (Which is committing sins and not following the rules) noone can guide him. (But yourself.. as power comes from within)

However, there are some things that are above of our Human Understanding like "buriedalive" said. And we won't get to understand unless this life we're living comes to an end.

So, be faithful ..no matter how long it takes.. you'll know the true answer in heaven hopefully.. if you chose to play the right Role. And never stop wondering about this universe, cause it's one of the good deeds and will surely add some points. :)

Assuming god exists is not healthy. Assuming we are perfect creations, that the universe is perfect, is absurd because we cannot compare anything to prove this whole thing is perfect. Maybe we were an accident provoked by an unplanned science project.

Well...just look at the bible in Genesis it says that the snake(Satan;Lucifer) decieved Eve saying to her that she would not die if she ate the fruit from the tree, but that she would know good and evil like God. This brings me to the point of "free will" Satan was in the garden in the form of a snake, right? God created angels as well as man....so that must of meant that God knew that He made both angels and man with free will to choose between good and evil; to follow Him and serve Him or serve themself; something other than Him. That's how easily sin entered into the world we live in to this day from one touch and desire....

Okay, if there WAS a "God" he wouldn't of created EVERYONE he would've created our ansestors, which would've created us, but thats beside the point, the bible is just a religious excuse, something some guy made up ne day, how the hell would the creator of the first bible know anything about anything that happened, what, did "God" contact him and say, "Write this in that book, title it "The Holy Bible" and read it over and over again to all humanity, so they are aware of my existance and my all mighty power and relanquish." No, because "God" has never contacted earth, Jesus did, and Jesus wouldn't know everything because he is "God's" son, where would "God" be placed anyway? in space? another planet? Where exactly is heaven, it has to be somewhere or else we wouldn't be able to go there when we die, if it is only visible through the eyes of a spirit, some human would eventually figure out where it is, it just can't exist, therefore "god" cannot have a presence because he doesn't have a seat in this universe, and everything that exists is eithe matter or energy, so what is "God"?

Anyway, sorry for the long ass reply, I have nothing better to do, hopefully I didn't go all out and get exited, belief is really no big deal, everyone has to believe in something, personally, I just believe "God" was imagined because people can't think after death, so someone imagined the afterlife so people would be less scared of death and reletaves of people who died would be more happy for them, and easier on themselves... That's what I believe.

I can prove it to you since "taylorr2012" haven't read your post yet.

A German Scientist (Sorrowfully I can't recall his name) experimented something:

Before I start.. in case someone doesn't know about it.. A Bean can be divided into 2 halves. And if you tried to plant each half separately they will grow another plant. However, if you broke a Bean into 4 quarters, it won't be able to grow a plant.

So, here it goes, A German Scientist tried this out.. As they were wondering why ants break all the beans into 2 halves when they collect their food. Ofcourse, cause it's easer to carry. But, there's another thing.. why don't they break it into quarters??

So, as the scientist knows that a bean can only grow a plant from halves and not quarters. They wondered if the ants knew this by Nature? or Did their Mothers showed them how to do it?

Then, they got a baby ant that is still inside its egg (To ensure that there's no contact at all with its mother or any other ant) They placed it in a box and watched its movements..

Surprisingly, the ant took the bean and broke it into 2 halves..

And there God shows his creation.. I believe it's a miracle.. I don't think the scientist taught the ant how to do it!

    Silly, silly people...
    God DIDN'T create us.
Your parents did! Its PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for one greater being to create everything.
Do you seriously want me to explain the system?
I will if I have to.
There is no god, there is no creationism, its EVOLUTION.

emilyf - you've figured it ALL OUT...you should write a book...or better yet, you should go take your special knowledge and go live on a hill somewhere looking down on everyone else below you...

  • Maybe God was just lonely I don't know, or maybe when we die that's it. Sometimes I think if we knew there was no God for sure, and we knew after death there was no life after death then people would go crazy trying to build ways for us to live forever. If we have no God then we have no purpose. If we have no purpose then what do we live for?

  • I don't really see why we were created either, but there is a chance there was a good reasoning behind it before we or the universe was ever thought of coming into existence.

  • When you say perfect, perfect at what? Just saying "perfect" doesn't actually mean anything in the English language.

He could be perfect at being a douchebag. Or perfect at being a faggot. Or perfect at being a snowborder. ETC.

One thing that we do know is that he doesn't give a shit about anybody but himself. Hell, he can't even take 2 minutes out of his busy schedule to say hi to anybody. The last time he did that was like 2000 years ago when he spoke to moses.

Seriously that god guy is a fucking asshole, and i can't associate with anybody that speaks kindly of that douchebag.

    So FUCK YOU

Fuck me? Wow, I cannot believe how fragile some people are. Would you just look at yourself, how excited you got, how emotional you got.

I am NOT speaking kindly of god. In fact, I criticize the BELIEF of him. The IMAGE of him. I despise him, and yes I do agree if he is indeed what the bible depicts him to be, then he is very very selfish.

As for not being seen for thousands of years, well there are some interesting theories out there. One is that God is an E.T who visits earth periodically every thousand years or so. Theres a book "Is Jehovah an E.T?" by Dorothy Leon. I strongly suggest it for curious minds.

How could you know that He is perfect? Did you get him into your bed for more than that five seconds he dropped his nerd glasses onto your pillow?!

I personally do not believe in god nor his perfectness.

However, this question is more aimed to firm believers in god who assure he created us out of love and all that jazz

Perhaps there wasn't a need. Perhaps he just felt like it. Perhaps he felt it would be interesting to observe something operating independently of himself (free will, laws of nature, and all that). We don't really know. All we know is that he did it (we're here) and not his motives.

It sounds an awful lot like experimentation.

Do you find a similarity between that and the way scientists observe mice in mazes?

It could be that God (on the offchance he does exist) just does things, without having to think about it. After all, he's (it's, she's, whatever) God, he really doesn't need to justify his actions, even to himself. It's hard to fathom his motivation, given how complex the presentation of him in the Bible and other holy books is.
To be honest though, there's probably no point in trying to work it out because either
a/ God's beyond the plane of human understanding, or
b/ he doesn't exist, and spending time thinking about him doesn't really change anything
    that's what i think anyway lol :)

If he is so complex, why would he impose god-like virtues on us? Knowing how imperfect we are, why would he?

If he is beyond our understanding then perhaps he should stay away from us to avoid our curiosity and creation of religions/wars/all that.

I dont believe in god, by the way.

      And thanks for your comment.
