"Go outside" or, "just talk to people" is also very poor advice for someone who is agoraphobic. It's like telling a crippled man to "walk it off".
I would say medication, but my experience with SSRI's was pretty negative and the side effects outweighed the mental illness. I don't think they're for everyone, honestly. Try CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), it offers ways to cope with your situation there and then, rather than suppressing your emotions 24/7.

Antidepressants plus benzos plus mood stabilizers fixes some of my problems. Other than that tough it out.
Drugs just pause everything. Or mask the problem.
Popping pills isn't tough it out.
Best thing is exercise! Now I don't mean a little 10 min jog. I mean you need to sweat that shit out.
Seeing dead bodies is never a fun experience, especially when you had to drag them onboard and place them in body bags to store in the fridge. Sometimes I wonder if by me volunteering for that shit has messed me up in unforeseen ways.

Meds don't work. Life does. Force yourself to get out and talk with people. Allow yourself to dislike idiots and creepers. Allow yourself freedom from bondage of self.
