Appalachians or rocky mountains
Yes, this poll is short and biased to the U.S. and Canada, but I’m curious to see what users like which mountain better.
I actually give the edge to the Appalachian despite their shorter peaks. This mountain chain is home to much larger amount of biodiversity than the Rockies. Granted its amphibians, trees, and moss, but I think that’s still cool.
The Smokies are one of the foggiest places on earth, the Central Appalachians has the longest autumn season on earth in terms of how long the trees stay colorful. New England likely has the most vivid colors. You never really have to worry about wildfires in the Apps, it came happen such as Gatslinburg, but it’s not every year.
Not common knowledge to many but the Appalachians have more crystalline rock than the Rockies making Franklin, N.C. the gemstone capital of the world.
I prefer the Rockies hot springs and geysers, and larger mammals, like Grizzlies and Cougars.
