Are all conservatives like this, or am i dealing with extremists?
I recently moved to a new city and subsequently a new friend circle. My new friends are very right-leaning, much more than I am. Honestly, I find their viewpoints pretty ridiculous sometimes, but I'm shot down immediately every time I disagree, and I don't want to be ostracized from this community immediately after joining. I used to live in a liberal area, so I'm not sure if these kinds of opinions are standard:
> a woman having a job is a sign of toxic feminism. as is a woman turning down a man for a date, and several other made-up problems starting with women. (oh yeah, and if someone's turning you down for a date makes you "uncomfortable"... you should grow up)
> saying "you whores" to address a group of women isn't sexist, because "whores" is feminine and therefore proves their worthlessness. Same goes with phrases like "cumdumps", "roasties"...
> generally injecting "destruction of western society" into anything and everything, and reading subconscious offenses to white straight men in (IMO) completely innocuous situations
> saying "stupid" or "idiot" is only offensive when directed at themselves and those who share their beliefs
> probably more stuff, this is what I can think of for now.
I've considered myself a conservative my whole life, but if this is what they're like, I don't want to be one anymore. So, tell me - are most conservatives like this? are these people extremists? or am I a snowflake that needs to see the error of my ways?
