Are artists ashamed that

Are artists who have to perform at malls and stuff embarrassed? I assume they have zero shame or self respect, imagine being a celebrity but being desperate enough to perform in a mall or something. You arent exactly setting yourself up to be a serious artist and will probably collect some fans that go to daycare and some that has intellectual disability. Thats my observation of the fanbase for those types of artists. Whenever I see a intellectually disabled person on social media they always worship some old Idol-winner who only ever has gigs at malls and has tons of photos with them. At least perform in bars and pubs, I can respect indie bands and artists who do that. It comes off more serious, at least if it's a place that charges for entrance.

A serious artist is serious about the art they make, not where they perform it.

Everyone has to start somewhere and if they are already somewhat established, who cares?? All sorts of people can appreciate certain art, if it's in a mall or a fuckin gas station. Who cares??

No I dont think they are. It's called self confidence or more crudely not giving a flying fuck about what other people think. When I'm just walking about in my free time I'm the most disheveled guy on the street.

If people want to market their shit in places that are free or are unlikely to kick them out it's their prerogative. You clearly judge them, I judge them but that doesnt mean I wont chip them a dollar or any loose change. I'm no patron of the arts but people wanting to strut their shit not carring about the judgment of others is the clearest form of freedom I appreciate.

my hillbilly friend acts like a hoity toity big city university professor and strikes a pose while strokin his chin and sayin 'what is art?'

and its funny but it got me thinkin

ive said it on here before that i consider art to be equal parts talent and creativity

too much creativity and not enough talent? you get those weirdos who paint one color or scribble a line and act like theyre a genius

too much talent and not enough creativity? you get a seta blueprints

Why would they be ashamed? Most people aren’t really ashamed to work in malls, whether it be as a janitor or security or retail at one of the stores… Most average people work average jobs at average places like malls, stores, restaurants, hair salons, gyms, etc. What’s the big deal?

Not at all, look at the NY subway Michael Jackson impersonator. He’s a huge celebrity now.

Maybe they enjoy being objectified. Strip club performers love that kind of attention.
