Are gas prices gonna go back down this year?

I have been saving up cash for awhile I had planned on buying a chevy tahoe. I have a kid and another kid on the way. I'm pretty tall so I need something with alot of space where I can drive with two carseats in the back seats behind me. Almost any car or truck there is not enough room for me to have my seat comfortably adjusted while having a carseat behind me. Right now this is ok because I only have one kid and I put it behind the passenger seat. But when the new baby is here driving or even riding in the car with my family will be impossible. Im too tall.

I also need it to be qble to pull a boat or a trailer with a few dirtbikes in it. The tahoe has enough power to pull but gas is going up like $0.10 a gallon every freakin day right now. I cant spend $120 dollars to fill my tank every week. Just a few months ago I was only paying $30 per tank in my little 4cylinder truck.

    Forget the dirt bikes and boat activities, you and your kids are gonna be spending a lot of time in the yard. They're gonna imprison us in our own homes.

    Don't expect gas to go down for a long time. It was already going up in the US before the Ukraine stuff.

    If you remember when Obama/Biden were in power Obama actually stated it would be good it has was $15 a gallon. It would help fund and move people off fossil fuels to renewables.

      Omg you're right dude. I just looked it up. I cant believe he would say something like this. This is the problem with these globalists they always want to depend on other countries for everything they see self efficiency as a bad thing, this is why other countries love the democrats because theyre pro globalism. They will gladly sacrifice the middle class in the name of globalism.

      And theres no one saying that the government cant use alot of tax dollars to slowly research and eventually switch towards green energy. The green energy is on the way anyway.

        It's the battery tech that's hampering it. Fossil fuels work because its instant energy stored in the fuel. We simply do not have the batteries to store surplus energy, so power plants have to regulate their output so they dont waste energy. Nuclear powerplants can somewhat circumvent this by pumping water into a high reservoir and tham releasing the water into a hydroelectric generator but that's not energy efficent as storing it into high grade batteries.

        That simple concept of how power is generated is why you have stupid politicians trying to move to green energy dispite them not being instant guaranteed energy that the modern power grid is designed to encompass. Better batteries = more efficent power generation since we could store more surplus and thus waste less resources. Since you cant turn off some powerplants and factories that produce power since it's even less energy efficent to do so.

    It's very unlikely gas prices will go down this year... and they may stay high for several years.

    A lot depends on how the Russia-Ukraine situation goes long term.

      Or when biden actually starts to give out drilling permits on us soil... exactly like trump was doing and we were an oil exporter.

        I actively follow the oil industry website.

        The holdup on drilling and connecting wells is not currently a lack of permits. It's all kinds of other supply chain issues. But, lack of permits might be an issue in a couple of years (it takes several years to go from a permit to start drilling a well).

        As an example: Fracking sand is currently in short supply, so its going to be a long time to replace all of the shut down fracked wells (most oil wells gunk up if shut down - and have to be redrilled).

          From what I'm reading they only need to replace 4.7 million barrels a day which is very doable but will take time. Thats if they even want to do it though I partially believe they want to keep oil prices high. They could easily come up with that.
