Are my teachers normal?

At my school, I was late for one of my classes. When I ran in, the teacher stopped talking and stared at me. Then she said, Why are u late? u were supposed to be here on time? I was about to say something, then she said, stop. U dont hav any good reason to be late, and u are not more special than ur other classmates, who were on time. Is this normal or is my teacher a d*ck?

I think you are the dick. YOU were the one who was late. You need to understand that it is very naughty to be late.
Today your teacher, tomorrow your boss. And then you are fired and sleeping in cardboard box in some alley.
Good on your teacher; at least he made an impression on you, and here you are, understanding that YOU were LATE. A bit late here too it seems, but better late than never, they say.

      This.
Love how parents and the general public criticize us for not teaching students "real world" skills when we have a hard enough time trying to get them to understand the importance of punctuality...

Teachers often teach what they are told to teach. They have a schedule to keep and material to go over. If they want more material gone over or better classes the school board should be the one dealing with that. The teachers have to follow rules too.

You are going to run into people that don't understand your intentions and therefore are going to perceive them as jerks. Your teacher wants respect and you want to be understood - life - just don't be late for the rest of the semester and they will respect you for that.

Keeping it real - you are probably more embarrassed that you were late and are trying to project it onto someone else. These people supporting you here aren't looking out for your welfare. You want to get a head in life, improve yourself always don't blame others for your mistakes.

I'm more upset at the fact that your lack of punctuation marks made me read the last sentence in your teacher's pissed of voice too.

You should have said "Shut the fuck up! My mom ran over someone on the way to school. Your lucky I came in at all."

In high school, I remember teachers being anal like that. In college, the teachers really don't care.

Yes, I actually agree with Gypsy and Nuero on this one. You should not be late to class. You are complaining that you broke the rules and someone was angry at you for it. If you dont want to follow the rules how do you believe you are going to make it in life? You are going to end up in prison since you stole, or vandalized something and get assraped in jail. Since you did not feel like following the rules and saw no purpose in them. You are the scum of society and you are not going to have a fun time growing up if you keep it up this way.

The teacher has a responsibility to instil in you the proper behaviour that the world expects from you and you are also giving the message that you don't care about missing the beginning of that teacher's class. The teacher sounds like a dick but you are still in the wrong by being late. There are "nice" teachers who would have acted differently, maybe let it slide, but they aren't teaching you how to act in the real world.

If you ran in then you probably disturbed the class which is why she was so annoyed. If you did that in my school, you'd get told to go outside and come back in again in a more mature manner

You are simply not allowed to enter if you are late.
Just wait till recess. You will not be late next time.
None of my students even thinks to disturb my class when I am teaching. (and no, this is not a joke)

Bean Bag Buccaneers is a two player children's game, the object of which is to pick up your treasure chest on the central island and sail back safely.

Each player has a giant sailing ship as their main game piece. Each ship has a removable sail, two trigger-action side panels, and a huge spring-driven cannon. Players take turns moving forward along a prescribed track and shooting bean bags at their opponent's ship. A hit on one of the side panels will force it to pop off and give the player a free shot at the other side; a hit forcing the sail off becalms the ship for a turn.

To add to the pirate flavor, each player also has an eye patch. Wearing these will slightly affect depth perception and add a marginal bit of sport to the shooting.

This game retailed for the somewhat impressive sum of $16 back in 1962. With its huge plastic ships (close to a foot long), giant vinyl play mat, and the eye patches, it may well stand as one of the more overproduced games of the early 1960s.

She shouldn't have asked you for the reason if she wasn't prepared to listen to your answer, that's just stupid.

Did you in fact have a good reason? Are you often late for her classes? And how late were you anyway?

That was rude of your teacher to speak to you like that.

It must be tough being a teacher sometimes. They probably become worn out after having kids constantly taking advantage of their kindness year in and year out. I bet some of them even become desensitized to the kids, like you, who were actually going to tell the truth and have a legitimate excuse for being late. Is there any chance you could speak with them outside of class time and explain your situation? Remember though, no matter what your excuse was, it is always courteous to apologize for being late and interrupting a class.

    Normal since punctuality is important.
Exactly how late were you anyway?

Normal to ask someone for a reason and then not let them give it?

It's a natural reaction to ask why then realize you don't really care.

Teachers are paid to teach. They don't have time to listen to excuses.

If you had a good reason and didn't mean to be late to the class and she stopped you in the middle of explanation, then this teacher got problem.
