Are people who try and seek validation insecure?

I was wondering are people who seek validation the weak and insecure ones. I would like to know with a simple yes or no question.

It's hard to walk the thin line of being confident and not looking like a jackass.

The struggle I face everyday. If you ever worry that you have delusions of grandeur watch any first episode of The Apprentice, it’s narcissist central.

Typically, yes. People who are secure and confident with who they are don't need validation from others.

or only seek validation from positive mentors in their lives - as those people help build them up.

"Validation" and "approval" are not synonymous. Validation is the recognition and acceptance of another person's thoughts, feelings, sensations, and behaviors as understandable. Self-validation is the recognition and acceptance of your own thoughts, feelings, sensations and behaviors as understandable.

Ask my penis. It can detect insecure people.

"Im sooo ugly. I hate my nose. I look dumb"

            Me: "No, you're hot."

            "NO IM NOT!"

            Me: "ok..."

"....why do you say im hot?"

Thats usually a everyday conversation with them

I can relate to that. Once had a fling that started to say that short after she entered my flat. Huge turn off.

Except for hermits that are mathematicians. They form a quantitative basis upon which to assess their place in the world.

Well duh! If you can not find it internally you need external validation

I notice it more as I get older. The look people give you to see if you're upset or something.

It always depends on the situation, but it's often true.
