  • I'm part of the ruling elite so I actually get a different stream of information than the rest of you do.

So I would say I trust my government.

  • I have a healthy Canadian skepticism of our government. Actually, last night the Conservative Party won for a second time, so my skepticism is at an all-time high right now. Harper's a liar.

It really depends on the subject matter and if there's motivation for covering up or faking something.

  • I base truth on proof and the goverment only gives us their word and rarely give us proof. Then again we cant take their proof as fact because they have control of the media etc so they could share a video on mainstream etc and say its truth when in reality they made it. Like I said at the start I base truth on actual proof.

I think "conspiracy theorist" has turned into a buzz phrase, a form of newspeak the mainstream media uses to discredit people without using a real argument.

"So you actually believe that powerful people gather together and conspire against the general public with the intent consolidating more power? Well that's ridiculous and makes no sense at all. You're a conspiracy theorist! You're a conspiracy nut! Did you wear your tin foil hat today?"

I'm a conspiracy factualist. When there's direct proof that the Warren Commission tampered with evidence (like the two pristine bullets they claim went through Kennedy's body or the fact Ford was caught falsifying claims about one of Kennedy's entry and exit wounds) that isn't just a theory that there was some conspiring going on. Its in deed a fact. Now, who exactly shot Kennedy, I don't know. That's really just speculation. I doubt he was shot from the Book Depository. There's a whole book by a physicist explaining how, based on the footage of the head shot, the official story couldn't have been true.

I could spend lots of time speculating and running in circles entertaining different theories about whether it was the Cubans, Russians, Mafia, Jackie O, CIA or bankers who did him. In the end, that doesn't matter. I do know for a fact the government lies in very big ways and that people should be aware of that and acknowledge it if we want any chance of preserving our civil liberties.

You're right that the term isn't used properly, but it's giving them TOO much credit. They are actually hypothesists, not theorists. Theorists would imply they have more evidence than they do.

Look, if members of the government can't cloak South American affairs or twitter flirting, I highly doubt many of the large-scale conspiracies. In some cases where the government hasn't been very forthcoming, I think there may be something going on behind the scenes. But most incidents are investigated again and again and the outcomes are logical, so most theories, including the Kennedy and 9/11 conspiracies, I believe to be complete bogus.

They aren't covering everything up, but somethings obviously. Most "conspiracy theories" are paranoid bullshit from people who don't have access to enough information though. So while I wouldn't trust everything the government says neither would I trust the zealots who are convinced they know the real truth when they don't have a lot of evidence. You might say I'm skeptical of both authorities.

I believe the government generally tells the truth. However I also believe (know) they intentionally leave out truths to distort perceptions for their own gains. I rarely take what they tell me at face value. I am always trying to read between the lines.
