Her philosophical work (particularly her work on ethics) is terrible. She reads like a dumbed-down Nietzsche for Tea-Partiers. Her defenses of ethical egoism and attempts to mix this with a sort of Adam Smith-style "private vice leads to public well-being" tripe is just juvenile at best, detrimental to society at worst.
I have read Anthem before. It's interesting to think about idealistic societies.
I tried to read the Fountianhead a few years back, but I didn't have the patience to get very far. I found that she was definitely not the most subtle of authors.
Ayn Rand fails to account for the synergy of teamwork, or the differing efficiency that different cultures have on human behavior. Without these considerations, her work is useless and unfounded in the real world.
I've never read her works, only heard snippets of them. I plan to read them someday though.
