    Unfortunately some people think "freedom of speech" is the same as "freedom from consequences".

        For example: you can't just go running around shouting "niggers!!!" at the top of your lungs, and then expect nothing bad to happen to you when you tell them it's freedom of speech.

      I've tried making this point before, I think the post was called 'what if they were wearing nazi clothes'.
      Speech is an action, and we should never try to control the way people think but as a community we need to control the way people act.

      You'd get arrested, but you still have the right to say it.
      If you choose to exercise that right in a particular time and place, then is up to you to face the consequences, if you dare.

    Absolutely for freedom of speech. It trumps anybody else's choice to be offended.
    (Publishing slander might be a bit different, though).

    I believe in free speech and freedom of expression, to be able to voice your opinion no matter how unpopular it is because people have the right to say whatever the hell they want but that freedom of speech also allows me to say if and how I disagree with the opinion
