I was happy being a locksmith. It was often a new problem. I enjoyed it much, Now I'm retired and miss meeting all the people and making tem happy that I could do what other locksmiths could not.
I have an online business. i do whatever i want each day, set my own schedule, and nobody tells me what to do. And it generates some serious cash, too.
Sounds like you are advertising a product or get rich quick scheme. You Jews surely know how to buy and sell. What, may I ask, do you do to generate this serious cash?
Lol i wish. I unfortunately have to make my money the honest way, the only way i know how. I buy and sell a commodity product, i wont say which one here since its somewhat of a niche market and i like to keep my identity private whenever possible. But basically i sell in various marketplaces (ebay, amazon, and a more specific one for the product). I work pretty hard all day packing orders and trying to buy more inventory at good prices which i then physically store it until it sells. Pretty basic self employed online business stuff. I make a lot of people around the world really happy.
Of course I am. I get paid 11 dollars an hour. everyone there does not treat me like garbage and I have to hit rate so I have a goal to work towards. Not to mention the break room is amazing!
What could be better than listening to your patients scream and moan in pain as you slowly rip out their molars without anaesthetic?
Of course I am! I enjoy the career that I picked, and I get off on the pain I inflict!
I had a job but got fired. I was unhappy working there anyways. Gotta dust myself off and search for a new job now.
I'm basically the complaints department for some locally owned hotels. I have to smile while listening to people complain about trivial things. Bend over backwards to make people happy that don't necessarily deserve it. To say I enjoy my job would be a lie. It is only temporary though until I can get in school and get that finished.
I would focus more on real world experience and less on education, unless you get grants to go back to school OR you have a guarantee its going to further your career. DO NOT GO INTO DEBT. My degrees mean nothing, other than giving me the fact I can say I'm "educated".
I want to be an occupational therapist but that would require six years of school and at my age I don't know if that is reasonable anymore. Not to mention the debt it would put me in like you said. I'm thinking certificates might be the way to go. Unfortunately where I live there isn't great opportunities for jobs everything is tourist based. So unless you have the right last name, you know the right people, or your family already owns something you aren't getting anywhere.
Try looking online, they offer very credible programs for a variety of different occupations and certifications. And the last part of your post is dead on. That's not just the culture by you, it's basically everywhere. Competence and ambitious nature do not take precedence over ass kissing, or outright direct family relations. It should, but for some reason I can't figure out, it doesn't.
It'll do for now. There's things I like about it and things I'll probably get tired of.
I'm retired. It's so nice to get away from people. It would like to go back to designing large scale database systems, but working with people makes me sick.
I'm currently doing Starbucks training, so I'm not sure how I feel about it right now. I hope I enjoy it. I just wish they wouldn't make steaming milk so complicated. lol
