Assuming god exists, (s)he is essentially only human. yay or nay?

I've noticed how believers worship God as being this awesome, all-powerful, all-loving being... but prayers go unanswered all the time, blatant injustices are ignored for long periods, and we all behave screwed-up.
Re: punishment - I don't believe there is such a thing as an unfair one.

The reason for all this: If there really is only ONE God who made humankind, then surely He must have some human essence. Being human, He is more than likely not as wonderful as we would like to think.

Please back up with Scripture/personal experience, if at all possible.

Of course not, He is the Alpha and Omega. No human could ever do that 13
Jesus was human, but not God. 11
Of course (S)He is: Why else are we human? 3
I thought we were dancer /terriblejoke 3
:| I don't believe there is a God, or even an all-powerful force/deity 29
There's most likely an all-powerful force working alongside God 0
Neither Jesus nor God were human, but merely spirit 3
I talk to God as much as I talk to Satan cos I want to hear both sides 2
There's most likely an all-powerful force, but no God AFAICT 10
There has to be more than one God to help Him take on all of us 0
Other 11

And sometimes he does so by enabling genocide and war crimes, with the occasional massive earthquake or flood.

God works in mysterious (atrocious) ways!

    Sorry, I couldn't resist.

God made man in his own image. In regards to your second answer jesus, god and the holy spirit are one in the same. In regards to the entire post humans are the result of over 3 billion years of evolution, please nobody reply to this as I'm not getting into a debate about evolution again with a bunch of fucking idiots.

If we're the "fucking idiots", then can you tell me what created God?

-Can God create a weight so heavy that not even he could lift?
-Can God put a limit to his own power?
-If God is willing to stop evil, but not able, then he is not omnipotent.
If God is able, but not willing, then he is malevolent.
If he is both able, and willing, then whence cometh evil?
If God is not willing nor able, then why call him God?
-What is the point of life? If you say that it's a test, then (if God is truly omnipotent) God should be able to tell immediatly if we're evil or not. No test would be necessary.
-If God is omnipotent, then he can see the future. If he is omnipotent, then he can also change that future. If he can change it, then the previous prediction was wrong, meaning he's not all-knowing. If he can't change it, then he isn't all-knowing.

Listen to logic, it can help.
(Sorry if some of the spelling is bad, I'm on a Nook)

That, and if God created people in his own image, then why are there lame (crippled) people? Why are there people born with no brains, only brainstems? Why are there mentally retarted people? Do you mean to tell me that God is mentally retarted, crippled, and brainless? Sure sounds like something I'd put my faith in.

Again you are wrong. My original post was a simple jest at what was originally written in the question but I do believe it has been changed since. If you must know I am a scientist and I think the very idea of religion existing in this age is pathetic.

Someone only wants opinions if they're the same as theirs.

There are too many religions on the world and they can't all be accurate. Would 'truth' depend on what culture you are and the beliefs you were taught to be facts? I think that it's best to study the past with an open mind and from an anthropological perspective. I'd say, regardless of culture or race the most important thing I would value is a person's inner beauty. And I don't judge anyone for believing a lie that was taught to them.

Your first paragraph would be relevant if that was in line with any scripture in contemporary mainstream religion. Atrocities occur - this implies that god is either not perfectly powerful or not perfectly moral, and while these hypothetical imperfect gods sound more probable to me, but I don't think that's what most people believe. The unfair God you refer to in your punishment paragraph is the lawful God of the Old Testament, as opposed to the indiscriminately gracious God of the New Testament. I get the feeling that most people have disavowed most of "old" God's hazy morality. You imply this in your second to last paragraph, but I feel like this renders some of your earlier logic kind of invalid.

You know how in the bible they say that God made humans in his image and yet there are slight differences in every person? What it suggests is that God has many forms and I feel that is hinting to us God exists only in the people who believe him.

Also assuming that God does exist, shouldn't we then bow down to the creator of God instead? Which will be followed by an infinite continuim of worshipping the creator of the person who created god and so on and so forth.

I personally prefer the vengeful, hair-trigger tempered God of the Old Testament by far. The New Testament suffers from typical sequel problems and limitations imo.
